I am unable to get any audio sound from my Nakamichi DVD-10s DVD player. It is hooked directly to my Vizio 37" LCD TV via Component Video cable and a optical audio cable.

You need to go into system settings and change the audio to either hdmi out or RCA it will usually play through hdmi if you have set the correct output in drop down menu.
U look around on the back of ur tv or the side of the tv u see a 3 holes one YELLOW,one RED, one WHITE hole all lable INPUT in a straight in a role that for hook up to the tv if u are using a RCA component cable Y-Video,R-Audio,White-Audio.The other end of the RCA component cable Y,R,W go into DVD player 3 holes Y,R,W OUTPUT holes.
Obviously the digital optical connector was never connected to the vintage Kenwood.
It sounds like your Vizio is NOT the actual root SOURCE of the TV audio but it's coming from a Cable Box which DOES have various audio outputs. Connect it as you would any other analog audio source (except don't use the PHONO input).
I have a similar problem with my new 37 inch vizio. Watching on cable and the sounds gets lower and lower until i can hardly hear it. Must switch channels back and forth to restore the sound level of a particular channel. Does anybody have a solution ?
the order i normally use for the sound system (if thats what your asking) is run everything including the vcr to the tv then on the back there should be a red plug and a white plug labeled audio out then run that to the sound system any input on the sound system will work long as the colors match and its labeled input...hope this helps!.
try swapping the scart lead to the second AV port on the player sometimes 1 is input and the other output run your tv cable direct to the player and scart to tv hope this helps
Depending on the year of your model of VIZIO your digital optical output may be tied to the DTV input only. Meaning the only time you will have audio coming out of the digital optical output is when your using the tuner and your on a digital channel. If your television is newer and the digital optical output is in white on the back of the television than it is tied to HDMI and the DTV Tuner and you will pass audio through the digital optical output when using HDMI or the Digital Tuner.
Now to get connect the HT: Normally you would run a digital optical cable from the source device to the home theatre system. Meaning if it was a PS3 you would run a optical cable from the Digital Out on the back of the PS3 to the Digital In on the Home Theatre receiver. If it was a DVD player than you would run the optical cable from the DVD player to the HT receiver. If you have a newer VIZIO and the optical output is in white and not black than you can run HDMI from the PS3 to the VIZIO and then run a optical cable from the VIZIO to the Home theater receiver.
You will have to adjust the audio setting in the PS3 to run audio out of the HDMI port if it is set to run audio out of the Digital Out or AV out. Also, if your going to run audio from the PS3 to the HT receiver through the Digital Out then you need to change the audio setting in the PS3 to Digital Out.
1. Select (Sound Settings) under (Settings) in the home menu. 2. Select [Audio Output Settings].
3. Select the input connector on the audio device.
Channel numbers and audio formats that are supported vary depending on the connector in use. AV is 2 ch. only, Digital Out is 2 ch. & 5.1 ch, and HDMI is upto 7.1.
I recently purchased a vizio 37" LCD tv, I have tried everything in hooking up my Sony DVD surround system to the TV. However, I found no audio output on this TV. Could you tell me if there is a way to hook the tv directly up to the surround without an output?
Is there something else I need to buy?
Have you tried using an optical laser disc cleaner? If you are 100% sure the laser is burnt out then you will need a replacement laser. I found a unit on ebay but I am not 100% sure it is the direct replacement part for the Nakamichi DVD10S. Please check that is correct (this listing is only a guide but you may be able to use it to source a similar unit cheaper or the right part etc as it appears to be currently out of stock from this vendor) - NEW OPTICAL LASER LENS PICKUP for Nakamichi DVD 10 DVD Player eBay
