Camera will run for @ 5 seconds then shuts down and message comes up - "reinsert the cassette". This happens on both playback and record. Battery is fully charged. Have tried several different cassettes. in my camcorder the message is reinsert the cassette

I have recorded two casettes with DCR TRV480. In midst of recording the 1st cassette, I got this flashing reinsert cassette issue. I removed the battery and put it back on and the problem disappeared and I was able to complete the recording. While recording the second cassette, I again got the same proble. This time removing the battery did not help. I was unable to complete the recording on the 2nd tape leaving unused space. While trying to play it on TV, I am getting the same problem with the two cassettes and even with an earlier cassette (which I had played earlier). When I insert a new cassette the problem does seem to appear. I need help as I am unable to play any recorded cassettes!!! any input would be really welcome.

reel table on the right ( take - up ) if has low tension ? will slow down or stop , giving reinsert error : stretching spring ( inside reel table ) will fix problem , as well as to order and replace reel table .

I have the same problem. I've had it before and it was solved by purchasing a cleaning tape and playing that for 20 sec according to the instructions. Then it happened again the other day, but it would give errors with the cleaning tape like the lock tab is locked. However, I solved the reinsert cassette problem that time by pushing the reset button. After a couple more hours of use, now the reinsert cassette error is reappearing and the reset button does not solve the problem.
I have the same problem. The camera worked for recording the first tape but has had the "reinsert the casette" error ever since.
