Most Bluetooth devices can connect only to one device. Make sure that it is not paired with any other device. Then again, if that doesn't work then, probably the Bluetooth device is non-compatible.

SOURCE: I can't get my iPhone 3G to detect other bluetooth

I would try doing a clean restore of the device, also, if you're using any type of unlock, you will lose them in this process (which may not be a bad thing, sometimes nasty things happen with unlocks and such).

If it sticks around even after this, then I'd look into possibly a hardware issue or defect.

Good luck.

The iPhone unfortunately does not pair with just any device, it would be best to check compatibility before purchasing a new peripheral for your iPhone.

Unable to connect to other bluetooth devices

Do you have bluetooth turned on and allow pairing?

Apple suggests this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1838
Also many older and "cheaper" bluetooth devices do not work with iPhone. Check out this article: http://news.cnet.com/8301-13544_3-9740876-35.html
Hope it helps!

Apple ifone bluetooth

you have to make sure that bluetooth is turned on.

go to your home screen, touch settings, then general, then bluetooth, make sure the bluetooth switch is set to on.

Then follow your directions for the your headset for pairing, usually it involves holding the power button down for so many seconds, then it will enter a "pairing" mode where the headset is able to be seen by phones.

Once that happens it should pop up on the bluetooth page of the iPhone and it will ask for the devices password. Most devices the default password is 1111.

Hope this helps and enjoy your Iphone, I know I do ;)
