If you mean just the one and the rest then it was probably recorded in Extended Play mode and nothing can be done.
Otherwise please explain your issues in more detail.
Try cleaning the heads, but it seems like the heads may be faulty, you might need to replace the vcr, they don't cost much these days, the repair might cost more than a new vcr these days.
You don't specify the adapter you have, but most load from the top. The main thing here is that VHS and VHS-C are both the same size of tape. Whether they are recorded in SVHS mode or not will not affect the adapter, just whether or not you get a picture. Theadapter only allows you to put a compact cassette (VHS-C) into a standard VHS VCR. The adapter will require batteries to allow it to place the VHS-C cassette tape into the proper position for use in the VCR.
If pictures are rolling during normal playback, just check one thing first. Open the Cassette flap and see the condition of the tape. Is it chewed and stretched at the bottom? If yes, the problem is a worn Capstan / Pinch roller in the VCR. It is cheweing up the lower edge of the tape, and therefore the VCR is not able to process the 'Control Track. All you need to do is replace the Capstan / Pinch roller. It is a big (approximately 1 inch high by 1/2 inch wide Black Rubber roller inside the VCR. REPLACE. Problem will be solved.
oh, just found out this is actually normal, it switches to stand-by mode automatically, but my cam only stays on for 18 seconds wen a tape is in, and it wont record or playback...
Hi,
Do you put a tape in when you try to record or do you connect to a DVD / VCR so that it records onto the DVD or VHS?
If this is how you do it, then I will recommend you use a mini DV tape instead.
Hope this helps.

hai,
If you are service engineer you can do this problem, Please, check the cassette IN sensing Switch. The place of the Switch is right side of the mechanism, Clean S/w with IPA solution & check. It will be ok or other wise you have replace s/w or mechanism.
