Can only see an image using Twin View and colors are distorted

I'm having problems with watching a channel on the whole screen. The only way I can watch TV is if I have a split screen (Twin View) with two channels showing at once. Even so, the colors are distorted with a greener image than it should be.

Can I fix my own TV?

T con board is responsible for what you see on screen and when there are all sorts of crazy, distorted images showing that is the board responsible. Maybe U can get a good used one on ebay from a set being parted out.

IMAGE STAYS ON FOR AN LONG TIME

Sounds possibly like image retention. If you watch the same channels often any recurring text, logos, or graphics, especially white colored, can ghost on the screen.(playing the same videogame for a long period can also have the same effect) Watching other programs or channels will cause the ghosting to disappear.

To prevent image retention you need to activate the TVs anti image retention mode(Called ISM Method). On Zenith and LG (the manufacturer of Zenith T
s) plasma TVs open the TVs menu, select the Option section (picture of a briefcase with a wrench). Select ISM Method and change it to Orbiter, this is reccomended if you watch programs or channels (or play videogames) that have still images for long periods of time. It moves the image a little every couple minutes.

If watching others channels or programs doesn't make the image disappear, change the ISM Method to either Color Wash or White Wash (don't use White Wash frequently, it over excites the plasma gas and can shorten the life of your TV if overused) for a few minutes and then return to Orbiter.

My screen is small but my tv is bigger

Look in the remote whether you have a key labelled "Zoom". Use it repeatedly to cycle among the different aspects (4:3, 16:9 etc.) that your TV supports. If you do not have a key, look for a similar function in the menus.

The input signal might also be the problem: If your TV is showing your computer screen (i.e. you are using it as a monitor), then you cannot get past the computer's highest resolution. Similarly, if you are watching a channel which is sending a smaller image, there is nothing you can do to make the channel send you a bigger one. With the zoom/aspect function you might be able to make the image occupy the whole screen, but you would be streching it, resulting in distortion of the original proportions

We have a model HL R4667W--Our picture just went

Hi,Yes your problem sounds like the DMD board. This is how it works: http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/dlp1.htm Basically the light of the lamp goes through a tunnel that carries a color wheel(rotating disc with a gamma of colors that creates the colors on your tv)then the light of the lamp goes through the DMD board which is a chip composed of around 2 million pixels that creates the images and colors. When it starts to fail it will create black bars, pixelation, color distortion or white dots on screens. Here's a video that will help you find where the DMd chip is located : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jr_9A5Xd2Q Have a blessed one!

PHILIPS 60PW936317 - COLORS GOT DISTORTED AS I WAS WATCHING TV

Your convergence chips and convergence resistors are going bad. When they fail the screen colors will look distorted/3d looking.  Another symptom is one or more colors can't be converged using the convergence menu. You can purchase the parts over the internet. Just make sure you get Sanyo brand convergence chips and the correct flame proof resistors. You can also check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They are working on a complete kit for this model.

Aspect ratio problems on Samsung LN-S2651D Flat Panel TV

The aspect ratio (zoom) button on the cable remote had been changed. On Brighthouse the # button toggles through the zoom settings. It's not a tv issue, it's a cable fix.

Can't hold a picture

Your problem while watching cable tv sounds like a bad tuner with little or no adjacent channel rejection. The problem with the DVD and I think to some extent the cable sounds like a video processing problem. This unit has digital video circuits and could easily cause the problem you describe. The easiest and probably the cheapest solution would be to replace the board with a refurbed unit. Two companies which sell refurbed boards are PTS Electronics, Bloomington, IN (www.ptsinc.com) and Tri-State Module, Evansville, IN (www.tristatemodule.com). Good luck.
