Are you getting little or no lint on the lint screen? Are the clothes coming out nearly as wet as they went in, but feel warm? If so, you probably have a blockage somewhere in the vent/duct. Don't just check the back of the dryer, but also check the duct thru the wall and the point where it exits the house (exterior wall or roof). Many times birds will nest in the exterior vents or if they have a screen to keep the birds out it may become clogged with lint. If you have a window nearby try drying a load with the vent hose disconnected from the wall and hang it out the window (you COULD vent it into the house, but you may end up with lint everywhere and a lot of moisture in your house).

Since you say the vent has been thoroughly cleaned then you could have any number of culprits. Most likely either an operating thermostat or (since it says yours is a gas dryer) a weak ignitor. Hard to say without being able to listen to the burner cycle on/off, visually checking the ignitor, and checking the exhaust temperature. Does it make any difference if you use the "timed" cycle? Does the burner seem to take a long time to light or shut off and then never come back on?

Heat level in dryer

A dryer usually overheats because of a kink or blockage in the duct work, blockage in the outside wall cap, or because of a defective cycling thermostat. The cycling thermostat tells the dryer when to heat and not to heat. Clean any lint from the inner and outer ductwork. You can also remove the vent from the back of the dryer for a load or two to determine if the clothes dry faster or not. If this doesn't fix it, go ahead and replace the cycling thermostat. Make sure to use the appropriate setting to dry the clothes.

Kenmore dryer will only work on no heat cycle...any other heat cycle will give pf code. md number 417.84092500

The Kenmore H5T is an electric clothes dryer meant for residential use and manufactured by the Kenmore Company, which manufactures a wide variety of appliances for the home, including refrigerators, dishwashers, microwaves, stoves, and clothes washers and dryers. While most Kenmore clothes dryers work well with only basic care and maintenance, certain problems, such as the dryer not heating, occasionally occur. Troubleshooting this issue may solve the problem without the help of a service technician.
instruction
  • Ensure that the dryer is properly connected to a working grounded power supply. Confirm that the power cord is plugged firmly into the dryer and the power outlet. Reset household fuses or circuit breakers if necessary.
  • 2 Remove the lint screen from the bottom front of the dryer. Pull off all lint so that the filter screen is clean, and replace the lint screen in the dryer.
  • Run the dryer for 5 minutes on a normal cycle and hold your hand under the outside exhaust hood to feel for air movement. If there is no air movement, turn off the dryer and unplug the unit. Disconnect the exhaust vent and clean out any possible obstructions, such as excess lint. Reconnect and confirm that the vent is not kinked or crushed and preventing proper heated air flow.
  • Ensure the dryer is not in a room or outside with ambient temperatures below 45 degrees Fahrenheit. The dryer will be unable to heat properly if the ambient temperature is too low.
  • Avoid overloading the dryer with too many clothes, which will limit proper heat and air flow in the dryer. Make sure the dryer is not set on an "Air Only" dry cycle, which does not provide heat.
  • Contact an authorized service technician if the preceding steps do not resolve the problem.

I have an Kenmore 80 Series Gas Dryer, the heat is not staying on. I've changed the heating element and no change. It heats up for 2-3min then turns off for 3-4min then restarts for 20-40sec. then off...

    How are ya?

The heating element is supposed to cycle on and off to maintain a set temperature. If it takes too long to come back on again, then the thermistat is malfunctioning.

Take a temperature probe and stick it in the drum and let it run for a few minutes and note the temperature. Should be consistantly near 90 - 130 degrees. Good luck :)

Check your igniter coil. It sounds like this part could be going bad. Another possibility is that the thermostat is defective. Some dryers have more than one thermostat.

Yet another possibility is that your thermal fuse is faulty.

I would check this webpage for more troubleshooting hints:
