I have a Electrolux Frdige Freezer Model ERF 2830.

I have a Electrolux Fridge Freezer Model ERF 2830 built into kitchen units. Keep getting a layer of ice which forms on the bottom of the freezer compartment. Have called out engineer twice to fix the problem which engineer said is caused by the drain hole freezing up and not letting the water away hence a layer of ice forms. Is this a common fault with this model and have you any suggestions to fix permanently

That is not a good model number. Is it a top mount freezer or side by side? Generally in electrolux the freezer is what cooks the fridge, if fridge is not cooling, it could be several things causing it.
1. Damper not opening
2. Damper has ice build up
3. The return has ice build up
4. The freezer evap assembly is not defrosting to allow air flow.
5. The evap fan is not turning.

Electrolux american fridge freezer cooling problem

There is a defrost timer on the unit. It is supposed to come on and melt the ice that forms on the coils in the evaporator. IF you get a lot of ice built up or something is wrong with the timer, it wont melt the ice or it wont come back on to cool the unit.

there should be a drain pan under in unit. it could be missalinged or the drain tube may have a hole in it. mice are good about this

Kenmore Elite Coldspot side by side Model # 106.57706701 Frdige warm, freezer is frozen up. Have removed back panel several times in ther freezer to defrost coils and several weeks later, same problem.

check the fan that transfers the cold air from the freezer to the fridge. thats where it comes from if you didn't know that. also check the the fan on the condenser at the bottom of the fridge. it should be blowing hot air off the condenser to facilitate the elimination of the heat from the condensing unit, just like your a/c does on the houe.

There is a duct between the freezer and refrigerator. Sometimes this duct blocks off with ice and won't allow airflow. Open your refrigerator door and check for air flow if there is none the duct needs to be defrosted. turn off freezer/ refrigerator and defrost.

Panel between fridge and freezer hot on Kenmore fridge

It is normal for that panel to get warm while the fridge is running. There is a hot gas tube from the compressor running through it to prevent frost built up. If it's feeling a little too hot try cleaning the coils under the fridge. This will allow the gasses to cool a little more efficiently thus allowing the fridge to cool quicker.
