I have an hp pavilion dv2700 it has a built in webcam I cant turn it on. I also currently run microsoft7. please help :)

The WEBcam driver may not be installed.
You can download the WEBcam and device drivers from the Compaq/HP WEBsupport/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the Windowsdrivers you require and install them. Click on this link to download thedrivers: -

if the driver for the HP cam is loaded old matching your unstated OS. (XP?)
you load the driver, yet? from HP, ??? we cant to that for you , only you can...

and the cable to it didnt fall off
then its bad or the OS is corrupted (full of viruses)
or the cam is bad.

on my HP laptop if the usb chip driver are bad or missing
the camera goes dead. so make sure all usb ports work
make sure all devices in the device manager are ok.

GO ON HP WEBSITE AND DOWNLOAD THE DRIVERS. SPECIFY THE MODEL WHEN DOWNLOADING SO THAT YOU WILL GET THE RELEVANT DRIVERS.

You might just need to restore your system back to factory default. Press F11 while restarting the system and remember to backup your documents.

Hi,

This is known Webcam issue in DV6000 notebooks. To resolve or narrow down the issue, we have to check few things.

First open Device Manager.

Please follow these steps to open Device Manager:

1. Right Click on 'My Computer' icon on Desktop and choose Properties.
2. The System properties Window opens.
3. Click Hardware tab and then click the Device Manager button.

Expand + Imagining Devices and check if the HP Webcam is listed under it.

If Webcam is not listed there, then you have to contact HP to get the BIOS update.

If it is listed there, right click on it and select Disable. Again right click on it and select Enable.

Now open any applications like Quickplay and check if Webcam is working or not.
