An old model Frigidaire top-load washer - the old "turn the dial, and pull out to start" type. Drum won't agitate - what, if anything, can I do?

Remove the front panel and inspect the drive belt. It is probably worn out and or stretched.
The Frigidaire style you have does not take overloading very well.
Also check the lid switch for continuity. It must be good for agitation to occur.

Frigidaire Top Load Washer Model # FW933FS2, when starting a load of laundry it begins to agitate but no water enters the drum. What do I need to fix this problem?

Hello James, thank you for your post!

I understand that your Frigidaire washer will start to agitate and no water will enter the drum. This could be an issue with your water valve or the control panel. I would check to make sure the water lines are opened and the connections are not restricted or damaged. If the water hoses are not damaged you may need to have a professional technician out to perform a proper diagnosis. This will help you to avoid any unnecessary part purchases. Good luck! -Matt

Sock stuck under agitator

Good Afternoon Haley - Based on the model number posted above, it shows that you are speaking about a front load washer. Is that correct? If so, then generally speaking front load washers do not have an agitator. If a sock is caught underneath it is typically because it got caught in between the door and drum because the seal is either damaged or off the track. If you have a top load washer, you may try to twist the agitator and then pull it out to remove it, as you would for maintenance cleaning.

Washer not agitating, fills, spins and drains but wont agitate. grease at bottom of shaft above belt puley

Check the splines on the drum. Take the cap off and remove the lock for the nut, take the nut off and you can pull the whole agitator out of the drum. Look at the splines on the shaft and in the agitator. Make sure they are not worn down to nothing.

I have a Lady Kenmore Ultra Fabric Care Heavy Duty 90 series top load washer that is about 20-25 years old and works very well. I think that an object has slid under the big thing in the middle of the...

if it is like the other you have to remove the top cover of the agitator cap with a small flat head screwdriver, then using a 7/16" socket and ratchet with an extension remove the bolt(right hand thread) and pull up the agitator.

good luck to you.

Washer will fill, drain, and run a complete cycle but will not agitate or spin

sounds like the motor control board is bad. you could test the motor to see if it ohms out ok, the diagram has the readings. The diagram should be on the side panel (inside the cabinet) on the lt side in a brown envelope.
