It made a quite hum during the spin cycle, instead of the normal (much louder) spinning sound. When I turned it off I noticed it had a rubber/electric burning smell.

If it's a squealing sound, your belt is probably bad. If it's a humming noise with those smells you listed, it might be your transmission going bad.

Grinding noise before spin cycle

Good Morning John,

I see that you are hearing a grinding noise before the spin cycle in your Frigidaire washer, model# GLET1031CS0. A certain amount of "grinding" or gear sounds are normal in a heavy-duty washer. If you notice that the grinding sound appears to be getting louder, I suggest contacting either the manufacturer or your local authorized technician for further assistance. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Neptune washer mah55lbww - during final spin cycle we have noticed thet it is getting louder as if a bearing otherwise normal operation

well the final spin does go faster than the other cycles pending on the age you may want to tilt it over check under it to see if you see any grease on the floor if so your transmission could be getting ready to go out. and make sure your not over loading the washer

Washer goes through each cycle but won't spin at all. Generates a grinding or louder than normal noise during spin cycle

Sounds exactly the same probs I have and have been told it may be the drum bearings. Still waiting to find out if it is fixable.

The washer recently began producing a high pitch squeek during the washing cycle, and a louder than normal sound during the spin cycle.

The motor Carriage is not pulling back fast/far enough special poly lube you can use other lube just wont last long or will deteriorate wheels quickly. What you can do is set for spin, hold open lid slightly with one hand pull back on motor slightly. If sound stops you got it. Other wise sounds like mount stem may need replacing if you do also replace spin bearing this is under basket and outer tub on top of transmission.

GU1500XTL loud humming sound during the cycle, getting louder

The run capacitor on the main wash motor needs replacing. Eventually it will just hum and overheat instead of rotating, so better replace it now before it overheats.

I doubt you can acces it easily yourself, as it may be away from the motor, and have to be tracked down.

Washing machine is louder then normal on the spin cycle.

This sounds like the rear bearing is going. After getting louder, the next problem is grease appearing on your clothes during the spin cycle. This is a very major repair.
