I have a 42''Philips lcd hd tv. Its about 1yr 6 mos. old. The model number is 42pfl7432d/37. Anytime I would lose electricity, a pop sound would come from the tv as it shut down, then it would make a pop sound again when electricity came back on. (Like a light bulb popping)On halloween (2009) the electric went out, tv made a pop sound, popped again when it came back on. The next day the tv turns on but no menu, picture, sound. The input appears quick then disappears. anyone have this problem?
Your tv is being attacked by electrical surges which seem very violent and has already damaged some logic controls. Please invest in a AC filter which will protect your tv from such spikes....... but first you need to get your tv serviced from the electrical damaged it has already suffered.

Is this a defect in the tv in which the tv can't handle quick outages.
what is ac filter and shouldn't the tv be able to handle these power outages?
