Disk error with Kenwood DV-605 multi-disc DVD player

I just went to watch a DVD (one I've watched many times on this DVD player) and I'm getting a disc error message saying that this disc is incompatible with this player and to please insert a compatible disc. I have tried several different discs and CD's (ones I've watched or listened to before on this player) now and I'm getting the same error message every time. The instruction manuel doesn't cover anything like this. Any suggestions?? Thanks!

I've tried taking the unit apart and manually cleaning the lense on the laser. Still no results...

Bought this one.Functioned fine for about 9 months. Then refused to read even O.E.M. disks. I think that Kenwood knew they had a funk, and moved on.
Have service man. to no avail.? Any thoughts, before target practice?
Why, if they know, do not give up the ghost, and admit whatever. Infinite mortality in there L.S.I. then manufactured chip sets.
    Or am I off kilter?

Try the following
when the error is on the screen, press the number 1 key on the remote, this should take you to the fist chapter of your DVD no matter which region it is

Panasonic BTT268 tray wont open

Dear Scott,

If there is a CD stuck inside a CD/DVD reader, you could try using a medium sized paper clip straightened up. Insert it in the small hole in the front of the DVD player bezel and push it till it opens the mechanism. Please, have a look at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fa_4CsS7MKw

The problem can also be caused if one of the rubber band that moves the DVD drive "door" has dried out, or even if the power supply in not properly connected to the drive.

Hope you may find this info hopeful!

Burnt DVDs will not play

It is possible that you're player will not play burned DVD's. If you have the manual...or even on the front panel of the player, it should say that it can play DVD-/+R, DVD-/+RW, or even DIVX.

Also, have you tried to play it in your PC to make sure it can play?

Hope this helps

DVD disappeared in DVD Player after viewing movie

Get the dummy cd disc, put a blue tac on it. Insert it. Then after few seconds, eject it. Your dvd disc should stick with it when they came out. It worked for me and hope it will work for you.

Tray will not open on my dv-605

Solution: Unplug power from wall. (Don't just turn off!) Next: Remove exterior case. Now gently turn the CD changer clockwise one position. Power up and try again.

I had this same problem after unit appeared to have froze up when unpacked from a shipping box. The CD changer had got off track and by gently moving the CD changer 1 position it fixed the problem. Works fine now.

Best of luck,

Dv-605 kenwood

I have a similar issue with my DV-605 as well. When the unit power on, I can hear the motor trying to start, but the DVD does not spin. Being the adventurous type, I opened the case and turned the DVD drive motor a few revolutions by hand and then the dvd played. I think I need a new DVD drive motor. You may as well....

DVD

I just fixed mine. Same scenario, with the loading and #1 displayed. The tray changer was jammed.

Take the cover off the unit and gently convince the changer to spin. It will go *crack* and then exhibit free-play. Turn the machine back on and voila it works.

I'm now watching Braveheart on 480p on 55"widescreen!!!!!
