Printing in bright yellow only. I've tried two brand new black cartidges.

I'm having the exact same problem. Our Canon S300 will only print colors, not black and we've bought two brand new black printer cartridges.

Is there an detachable print head?

  • Anonymous Jan 04, 2008

Try to wash your print head with (traduce from russian):
10% ?аммиак, 10% etilic spirit, 10% glicerine, 70% distiled water
Solution must be filtered and just a little warmed (40-50Celsius)

My Canon MP190 will not print with only the black cartridge installed. Is there a way around this? It doesn't make sense to be required to buy both when I could buy a brand new printer with cartridges for...

the ink can probably just be left empty in the tray, this will be color has no ink left, but black dose, hence you should be able to print with the black only now. taking out color or tricolor will result in nothing being printed. some printers have the option to select black and white print modes only, this will be your best bet to use only black and white. and will yield more then 15% efficiency over color that uses far more ink due to pixelation and blending modes.

Do I have to install a color cartirdge (CL-41)?

Some will allow printing with just black & others will not. You may need to put a color cartridge in to print. Check your owners manual or canon website to make sure but if you do need a color cartridge you can buy a generic brand that works with your printer to save some $$. Hope this helps.

Print Cartridge Problems

i have an mp170 all in one and when you fill the cartriges they dont show up as full cannon put a chip in the cartridge to con people into buying new ones try siting the cartridges in warm water for a few hours then blot the cartridge with tisue paper if it dont blot out the ink the cartride is finnished and you need a new one .To align the cartridge you flick through the menu on the printer not pc screen look for alignment page print this off then you have to pick the dark boxes on the sheet shade the bit next to it and put on your scan bed and click ok it should scan the sheet and reset the alignment

Mp 360

I had exaclty same problem - black not printing - was about to buy a new printer but did the following as a last resort about a month ago - remove the ink cartridges - removed the head and sat it on an a tissue - into the 'well' where the printer cartridges sit I dropped into there a very small amount of water as if to 'wash it through' where the ink would flow, (about a quarter tea spoon) - agitated it a bit - this flushed thru the gaps were the ink goes - I cleaned it all up - dried it with a tissue - put it all back together - it works fine now ! This was a last resort option for me but I guarantee it did work !
