That solution makes alot of since. The only question I have is when you say back wall of the freezer does that mean the panel inside of the refrigerator or the back outside wall?

  • taylor_keith Nov 12, 2009

Thanks for your help. I removed the back of the freezer, cleaned out all of the ice and found the plugged drain hole. It was full of ice. I cleared it out, took off the lower back of fridge and poured water into the darin hose to make sure it was draining through hose into the pan. Fridge is working great now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is usually caused by a cloggg in yout defrist drain weather covered in ice or clogged at the bottom.
when you sytem goes inot defrost the water has no where to go
if you can take off the back wall of the freezer and clear the drain
you will also want to take off the back and make sure the drain to the pan is clear as well
you can check it clear by poiuring water down it and make sure it ends up in the pan
a very easy reapir

Hi.

Check if it is condensation, or if you have a leak from water lines to dispenser, or from the back of the ice maker.

There is a drain hole getting from freezer to fridge, ensure that this is not obstructed.

Regards.

This could be your heater has malfuncutioned and what is happening is that when you turn it on the freezer is trying to get cold and frost and the heater is staying on and letting things melt very fast and causing a water problem

SOURCE: I have water collecting on the iside of the

I am going to assume you have a defrost condensate blockage in the rear of the freezer and behind the rear panel where the evaporator dreains condensate after each defros. Please correct me if I am wrong.
The answer to finding the cause of the leak is where we need to begin. Most start in the freezer section behind the rear panel where the defrost condensate is drained during defrost. Sometimes the drain hole freezes over and the water drains down into the freezer creating a large area of frozen water. Other times i happens as the water leaves the drain in the freezer and follows its path to the pan below your refrigerator to re evaporate into the air inside your home. If leaking inside the fresh food compartment then the cup behind the control panel may be over flowing and leaking down the back wall of the refrigerator and will need to be taken apart and cleaned to allow the water to continue down to the pan below the refrigerator. Sludge and dust or even ice may be blocking this line. Below is a link to a page that may help you resolve and fix this. If you have more questions feel free to let me know. This is most likely due to the defrost drain being restricted, here is a link to help explain how to correct the problem. Let me know if this helps. Thanks.

Started leaking water accumulated on bottom shelf in lower level. now top freezer takes 2 days to freeze ice, bottom freezer vent clogged.

The drain is clogged. When the drain clogs it can also clogs the airflow vents. Remove the back wall of the freezer to access the drain. Remove all the ice blocking the drain and the vents. Then use a trukey baser to force hot water down the drain until water flows freely. Then mix water with baken soda and pour it down the drain. http://www.appliance-repair-it.com/refrigerator-leaking.html
