After our wine cooler has run for a couple of weeks, a significant ice build-up occurs on the cooling coil that can only be removed by shutting the cooler off and then wiping up the water in the bottom of the cooler before re-starting it. A previous service technician recommended that we keep the gasket lubricated with petroleum jelly, so that we could avoid intrusion of air from the house when the door was closed.
The last time I defrosted the unit to remove the ice build-up, two days ago, I have been unable to re-start the cooler. The light goes on and off, so there is power, but turning the thermostat knob up and down has no effect - the wine cooler does not run at all.

How can I fix my GE Monogram wine cooler? It Will NOT self-Defrost. Ice builds up in the back top-left, from left top corner, right and down. Have to empty then shut off the thermostat and wait for the ice to either melt or fall-off. Seems to work OK except for that. Guess I should feel lucky reading about some of this model's problems (ZDWC240NBS). Cabinet fit appears to be fine. No problems keeping wine cooled. Just cannot push the shelves in after the ice builds up.
