My Acer LCD Monitor AL1707A goes blank after 2 seconds

My Acer LCD Monitor AL1707A goes blank 2 seconds after switching ON. It seems Inverter circuit has some problem but can't find schematic for this model. Any opinion about the fault will be appreciated and if somebody have its Service Manual or even Schematic Diagram, please send it.
Many thanks in advance and Regards,

Try this,
When laptop on booting immediately press del.
And the screen will run normally.
But if the screen is still white, force to press power button soon.
And it will shutting down.
After shutting down, repeat this action.
It will work.

Why does screen go black after a few seconds

Hope this helps.... Your monitor has an inverter issue. You know it's an inverter problem when:
1. Your monitor starts normally and displays the startup/desktop screen for a while.
2. Then it suddenly goes off, leaving a blank (black) screen or a very dim display.

To fix this black screen problem, change the inverter board (based on your monitor brand).

I have a Dell monitor model #1901FP when my computer comes on the monitor comes on as it should. After only a few seconds the monitor goes blank. You can turn the monitor off then back on the monitor...

The solution I am about to describe refers to a backlight problem, which is most common in Dell 15,17 & 19" monitors. The symptoms are as you describe:
  • You power on the monitor, the green on/off switch illuminates and the display works for approx 1-2 seconds and then goes blank.
  • The green on/off switch stays illuminated but the screen remains blank
  • If you shine a torch into the LCD matrix you can see the display being rendered faintly
  • Switching the monitor off and then on again illuminates the display again for 1-2 seconds before going blank again
This is a backlight fault and is most likely to be caused by the failure of two of the four driver transistors used to light the lighting tubes in the LCD Matrix. This fault is easy to repair if you (or a friend) have a soldering iron and a voltmeter.

Inside the monitor there is an inverter board that acts as a power supply for the monitor and the logic necessary to control the backlights (illumination and brightness control). There are four lighting tubes, which are controlled by two lighting circuits (two lighting tubes per circuit). At the heart of the inverter board is a chip that monitors feedback from the two lighting circuits and closes the back-light circuit down if either of the lighting circuits fail, thus any component failure will exhibit the same symptoms.

The transistors which fail most often cost pence to replace (types C5706 or C5707). However, their failure in unlikely to be the cause of the problem. My first crack at fixing this fault, by replacing the transistors, resulted in them failing again within 24/48Hrs. The cause of the problem will be dry solder joints or loose connections on the high-voltage side of the circuit, usually on the backlight transformer in the effected circuit. If you re solder each of the connectors on the transformer you will save the transistors from blowing again - the transformer generates 1,400Volts for the lighting tubes and at this voltage, arcing across the a dry solder joint, will quickly destroy the transistors again.

No soldering iron? - A complete inverter board replacement is also reasonably cheap and easy repair. These are widely available.

Sorry of this is more detail than you expected but it may help others reading this article.

Monitor is blank

Most common failure in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, falied inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what goes wrong: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further.

Monitor displays for about 2 seconds then screen goes blank. switching monitor of and back does same 2 seconds the blank screen. tried on 2 different computers , problem still persists any clues thanks

The problem can be caused by bad caps (bulging or leaking) in the power supply, bad inverter back light circuits, or worst case will be lamps. Look for bad caps first since it is easy to see, post back what you see inside so we can guide you further, see example of failed monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Most monitors will fail after 2 years.

Gateway Monitor goes blank after a few seconds after startup.

Sounds like the inverter is broken or have a short circuit. This is a common failure on TFT displays.

Hello,

Yes, The inverter is the problem on your monitor. We have a step by step guide to dis-assemble and repair your monitor posted on our web site at:
www.ccl-la.com/monitor_repair.htm Your model is the same as the westinghouse L1875NW. We have a parts kit for $12.00 if you need it, it can be purchased on the guide page. If you don't want to do the repair yourself we can do it for $35 + shipping. This is a common problem with that series of monitors but the repair will get you back going.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

Monitor blank when startup, have to restart several times

The problem is probably caused by the LCD's inverter.
I had problems like yours with some Acer laptops and had to replace the LCD's inverter.

What is wrong with my AL1711

This is possibly an inverter. When the monitor goes out, examine the LCD to see if you can see a faint image of the video being displayed. IF so, replace inverter. If not, possibly a bad LCD or video circuitry.
