Just a note... if the freezer door switch has failed you will not water or ice in door. (3 terminal switch)

You need to replace the defrost heater and defrost thermostat.

Time to change your the filter for the water supply. Consult your user manual for instructions. Also make a trip to the dealer to purchase a replacement filter.

I had the same problem. Turned out to be a microswitch under the lever used to activate it. The microswitch fell from the original position so it wasn't turning on anything. I tried gluing into position but the fumes from the crazy glue messed up the switch and I had to replace the whole rig.
The part is under the control display. You can pry it open from the left side.

Get a good connection to the cold water line, buy a good filter and run copper to the back of your refrigerator. Don't use a piercing valve. I know how you feel. Oh, put shutoff on side of filter housing that feeds the filter. Sea Breeze

Have replaced the filter. The light is still red. Answer: After changing the water filter, press Cubed and Crushed buttons simultaneously and hold 3 seconds.

move the fridge out to see if there is water underneath it sounds like a leak in a line some where you might want to have a service tech check it out.

Most of the samsung's have a reset button on the bottom front of the ice maker that just pushes in and it should start the cycle.
