Hello, David.
The best way to protect your wireless access from unauthorized access is to add a password.
Without a password, if someone drives by your home with a laptop, etc. and sees your network, they can connect.
If you are uncertain about how to add a password, contact your provider.
Hope this helps.

Well, it is not just about to add password, make sure you will add PSK WPA or PSK WPA2 password and not WEP (this one can be broken in about 10-15 minutes). Also Hide your network name if router has this option. With PSK WPA or PSK WPA2 (strongest encryption) you are safe!

Using your wired PC, open Internet Explorer and type http://192.168.2.1 and enter. It will prompt you for username and password. By default there's no password, just click OK or Login. Click on Wireless Tab then Wireless Security, choose WPA-PSK then type your password on the box called passphrase or shared key, minimum of 8 characters then save the settings. That should do it.

First connect a LAN cable from the Belkin to the LAN port on your computer, then open a browser and enter the Belkin configuration URL
