I moved my PS3 to a new house and when I reconnected it the HDMI wouldn't display video or audio. I hooked the RCA up and got the video, however when I try to change setting to HDMI it doesn't work. Screen goes blank for 30 sec and returns to same screen. I have the HDMI cord hooked up when doing this and I used different HDMI cords and tv's and it still doesn't work. Do you know what I cud do next? thx
Make sure everything is pluged in correctly and the Playstation 3 is on stand-by. The using the power button on the console hold it for about 5 seconds till you hear two beeps. And this will reset the display settings.

The PS3 can be hooked up to the tv using either a HDMI cable or the old RCA (Yellow, Red, White) cables. If you are having problems viewing a picture or hearing sound, here is some trouble shooting you might want to try.
Connect the PS3 using both the HDMI and RCA cables. select the HDMI input on your tv. turn on the PS3. If you cant see a picture, press and hold the power button until you hear 2 beeps (this will take about 15 seconds). This resets the PS3 to the old RCA cables. Select the RCA input on your tv. Hopefully you can see the image and hear the PS3 now. Go to the settings on the PS3 and change the display settings to output video through the HDMI. Remember, your tv can only go as high as 1080i resolution, so you wont see anything if you select the 1080p resolution.
If this didn't work, you might have a bad signal though the HDMI cable. Unplug the tv and PS3 for atleast 30 minutes, and then connect the PS3 to the tv before you turn either one on.
If this doesn't help, then you might have a HDMI cable that isn't recognized by either your PS3 or your tv. Try replacing your HDMI cable.
if the ps3 is set to hdmi it will not work threw the av cables. you need to change the settings on the ps3 to use av cable. its mostly set to hdmi as factory setup .
You should have the HDMI plugged into the Home theater unit. The theater unit then is attached to the TV using the HDMI out.
The home theater unit passes the HDMI through to the TV while playing the audio for you.
You will likely need to select the correct source on your RT2910.
Here is a link to the manual.

See the section entitled "Connecting to HDMI Components" for an illustration of what I have described above.
You will need to turn on the PS3 and hook it up with rca so you can access the console menus. Turn it on and get to the main dashboard.
1. Go to Settings -> Display Settings (not video)
2. Select [ Video Output Settings ]
3. Select HDMI
4. Select Resolution
5. Select Screen Size
6. Save the settings
7. Reboot the console.
This should resolve the problem. We've seen PS3 consoles that would not reset by performing a hard reset. We were able to resolve this issue through the settings menu though.
Let me know if it is still giving you issues.Hank

Try entering Recovery Mode and choose "Restore Default Settings".
If that doesn't help, you may have an HDMI port failure - which will require returning the unit to Sony or sending it to a third-party PS3 repair shop.
I would suggest you check if your PS3 is set up on going through the HDMI Cable. On your PS3's XMB scroll to settings -> Display Settings -> ANd from there go down to the one that says "Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr Super-White (HDMI)" and hit X and select the option Yes... That sets the PS3 displaying through the HDMI If you are already have done that I'm pretty sure you know you have to change the Input on your TV to HDMI... Take your remote and hit Input -> Scroll down to HDMI on the Input Source menu and hit Enter when you get to HDMI If the AV on your PS3 works and not your HDMI sounds like Display Settings issue... If you have done all that, that is strange if it still doesn't work. There are some people that are having problems with the AV Cable with the PS3, I tried this and it really does work. I switched from HDMI on one tv to a AV Cable on another and when I did that neither TV would display content from my tv. The fix for this is resetting your PS3, like on a iDevice you hold the home button and lock button, for the PS3 you hold the Power off button and the Eject button for around 10 seconds. This resets your PS3 into default video settings. Until it Turns on, Beeps, and Turns off. This should work.
The instructions are as follows:
1 - Turn on TV and set input to port being used. 2 - Make sure PS3 is connected via correct cable. 3 - Power on PS3 via power button and HOLD IT for 5 seconds (release after the second beep). It should automatically configure your PS3 to the TV's native resolution for all settings.
Once reset, you'll connect your RCA cables (Red/White/Yellow) and set up the PS3 display settings. To get there from the XMB bar, go to Settings > Display Settings. You might have to disconnect the HDMI cable from the PS3 before the RCA cables work. I don't remember entirely.
Select Video Output Settings > HDMI > Automatic. If you can see the prompt about a max resoultion of 1080i (with your HDMI cable plugged in) you should be good. Select Yes and press X to continue. You can set up the audio but it's not necessary. Select Finish and you should be good.
When you hooked up the HDMI did you go into display settings and change all the PS3 settings to HDMI instead of AVI? I thought my HDMI wasnt working, just a blank screen but I could hear the sound, then it hit me..... change the video and display settings to HDMI and poof, there was the pic. lol
