The dvd copy protection message is annoying but just to inform you that the DVD cann't be copied without special software that breakes the code. such as clone dvd.

It's when I play my dvds of Hogans Heroes that the message comes up 'incorrect disc'. I can play any other dvd I have and it plays. what gives?

Your Hogans Hero discs are probably for a different region.
Check how to change your regions in the manual.
Some only give you four and five changes during the life of the box! Copyright protection.

You could make region free copies of your favourites by burning those titles onto blanks with Anydvd from Slysoft, and dvdshrink.

My combo player recorder will play dvd's fine, however it just started to not record. Have cleaned heads and still no luck. Can you give me any things that may help me out?

Are you getting any error messages? Many units will not copy or will only record "garbage" if you try to copy a protected, commercial tape or DV. Home movies usually don't experience any copying problems because they don't have the "don't copy" code placed on them.

When trying to record. it comes up with message: the content you want to record is protected

This is common today. Most DVD's are copy protected unless you use the appropriate software to encode it. If you give me a more detailed explanation of what your trying to do I can help.

Don't know your machine, but is it possible that it's seeing your source tape as write protected (missing tab) and so assuming it should not be copied to the DVD?

Copy Protection Signal

"Copy Protected Signal." Means that the data you are trying to Ahem... "Copy" probably has copy protection inbuilt into the disk & data. This is done to stop copying of pirate DVD's etc. Part of the DRM put out by the TV/Music/Film industry. There are programs that can strip protection and enable one to copy said DVD's.. AnyDVD is one that springs to mind, as does Dameon Tools, and many others simply Google for them.
