Short answer: I need the make and model # Long answer: Some manufacturers, Philips for example, is fairly liberal of locking their DVD players to one region. It is very easy to unlock philips player, try googling "(brand) region free code" and there will more than likely be articles and sometimes instructions on how to unlock a particular model. Every DVD player is different so there is no one way of doing it. Sony, panasonic and other brands are stringent on their multi region capabilities. I'm not saying there are not ways of doing it, but sometimes it actually requires opening the dvd player and changing something inside, other times it can only be done if the factory before they ship out. Blu-ray has a region restriction also, but I will let someone else more familiar with that format explain that. VHS players in the states is in NTSC format and in some countries they are in PAL format. The only way to get a PAL to play on an NTSC is if the VHS is capable of playing that format. You cannot do anything to make it play PAL. It's kind of like putting a DVD in a CD player and expecting it to work. It just doesn't work that way.
