All tests show that audio is functioning backed up by visual display when playing sound file, laptop speakers turned on, driver installed OK, when microphone plugged in shows shows speech pattern on Sound Recorder, playback shows visually but no audio, extension speaker plugged in but still no audio. SOUNDS show sounds playing, but no sound. Hardware test indicates no problems. All sound bars at max volume, MUTE turned off, laptop sound buttons show increase/decrease in volume. No sound Any clues please?

Compaq presario v2000 audio problem

If you have windows operating system reinstall OS or system restore back to a date that audio sound was heard.

If you use Linux operating system, Check dependency files of alsa drivers for the kernel version number you use. Usually missing binders or failed to blacklist other symlinks.

I want to install external speakers to my Compaq V2000

There are quite a few speakers on the market of different sound quality. I sugest you get speakers that have a built-in amplifier and you connect the powered speakers into the headphone socket on the laptop. Take you laptop to a computer shop with a CD and or DVD and test it with various speakers and then select one that suits your tastes and budget.

My lap top has stopped playing audio

Right click the volume control - select open - this will open a larger volume control showing the volumes for each type of sound. Make sure none of the sliders are muted or low.

Compaq Presario v2000 ALTEC LANSING speakers not working

Hello,
The first thing that I suspect is that it couldn't locate the right drivers for installation. Still, I'd suggest that you try reinstalling the right drivers for you laptop. There's no harm reinstalling the drivers. Get the drivers for V2000 at this link, but you need to choose which OS are you using: Presario V2000 Audio Drivers. Take note too, that HP recommends that you delete your existing drivers first before installing the new ones.

The method of deleting and reinstalling can be found at Method 4: Delete and reinstall the original sound drivers of this LINK. That link includes the troubleshooting methods for audio/sound problems. You can go through the procedure that applies to you, but I'd still suggest that you do first METHOD 4.

Please let me know of your troubleshooting success by rating me here, or visit me at http://howtoresolve.blogspot.com or at http://real-online-treasures.blogspot.com .

Good luck and enjoy!

Cant turn up volume my compaq presario laptop

Ok it could be a few things, I am assuming that you are using XP and its a laptop, so lets try these:
  1. Can you turn up the volume by using Control Panel -- Sounds and Audio Devices --- Device Volume slider?
  2. On some Compaqs, the controls for audio are activated by holding down the FUNCTION key (usually blue letters on key on the left side of keyboard) and then pressing the audio up or audio down key. These keys are usally towards the top of the keyboard. These keys can do multiple things depending if the blue function key is press down first. They can control things like switching between internal and external displays, turning up/down the brightness on your laptop display and controling your audio levels too.
  3. Do you hear any sounds at all, if not, does Device Manager list your sound device?
  4. If this is a desktop PC, number 2 does not apply.
ok try those and let me know, Thx! =)

Hi,
Which operating system u r using? If ur laptop have Windows Vista operating system then u go for recovery manager. That is in Start - Programs - Recovery Manager. In that recovery manager,u click on Recovery manager.and click on Next button. Its shows the software reinstallation page. There u select No and click on Next button. Its shows the Hardware reinstallation page. There u select Yes and click on Next button(Two times). Its shows the hardware drivers list. There u select the sound driver and reinstall it.after reinstallation process completed, u restart ur laptop.

If ur laptop have win XP operating system, then u first install UAA drivers and restart it.Next u install Audio drivers.Installing this driver may result in an error. But continue with the
following steps to get the audio driver installed correctly.

1. Click on Start and select Run. Now type devmgmt.msc and press enter.
2. Right click on "Audio device on High Definition Audio Bus" and click Update driver.
3. Select "Install from a list or specific location"
4. Click Next. Then select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install"
5. Click Next and then select "Sound, video and game controller" from the list.
6. Click Next and then click Have Disk.
7. Click Browse C:\swsetup\sp****** folder . Select the .inf file, click open and Continue with the onscreen instructions.
(Note:******* means driver number)
