I had the same problem happen to my 4 year old LNR408DX/XAA this weekend. After doing some research on this and other sights I decided to try and tackle the problem. A person described how he fixed his mom's set by soldering a jumber from a component on the "T-Con" board to a connector. I performed a simular repair by solder a jumber across the SMD component labelled "P". Bottom line is the T-Con board was the problem.
It sounds like this is a problem with the inverter boards on the LCD panel. Unfortunately the inverter boards are usually only available with the whole LCD panel and the only way to fix it is by replacing the whole LCD panel. This is the most expensive part of the TV (about $1000) and you will need to take the whole TV apart in order to replace the panel. A new TV of similar make and model will usually be about the same price as the repair.
Testimonial: "Thanks for letting me know. I opened it up and all the capacitors look fine so you are probably right that it is the whole lcd panel."
