Try downloading the Touchpad drivers, then you will have that option.
Get online
and got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "Dell
Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support).
Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating
system when requested. Download and install the Touchpad drivers.
You can disable the touchpad once you have the touchpad driver installed.
Most times when it installs the touchpad will be at the bottom right
near the time. you should also be able to get to it in the Control
Panel.

The touchpad driver for your laptop can be downloaded from Dell's support website. Since I'm not sure which operating system your laptop has installed, I'll give you some more detailed instructions for locating the driver:
Visit www.dell.com/support, and click "Support for Home Users."
Click "Drivers and Downloads."
Click "Select Model" and choose "Laptops," then "Latitude," then "D410."
Click "Confirm."
Choose your operating system (Windows XP, Vista, or 7) from the "Operating System" drop-down menu.
Choose "Mouse and Keyboards" from the "Category" drop-down menu.
Click "Download" next to the "GlidePoint/StickPoint" driver and follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the driver.
I hope this help you locate the driver you need. Thanks!
Whoa, whoa, whoa, before you jump to conclusions, try disabling your mousepad and try using a USB mouse instead. I have never heard of a virus that does something that stupid. And in the unlikely event that it IS a virus, you can just purge the virus, not reformat the laptop.
Sounds like a compatibility issue between your Dell and the Docking station. I would say make sure the software for your docking station is installed properly, and update the software before connecting again.
