MFC-240C printer head repair

My black is not printing properly. Most likely clogged. The black print pattern is not a full pattern. I have tried following cleaning instructions and purging. How can I get to the printer head to clean it manually?? All other colours function normally.

Mfc-240c prints lines in black

It may be your printer head that needs to be flashed. if you have not use the printer in a wile, the ink drys out and clog up the nozels. Do printer head cleaning, if not work, use paper towel with a little warm water, press the printer head on it.

I have a Brother MFC-6490CW that my husband purchased for me somewhere between one and two years ago. I just recently decided to use it, and the black ink would not print. I thought the original...

Power purge the machine:

Hold down the menu key. While still holding the menu key, unplug the machine and plug it back in. Do not let go of the key until the machine reboots and the screen says "maintenence". Hit the following keys: 7, 6, 4,black start. The machine will then go into "power purge" or deep clean mode for about 5-7 minutes. When complete hit: 99 to get out of maintanence and reboot. Be sure to have extra ink cartidges on hand as it does use up a lot of ink but this process works the best every time when the printer wont print

When a jet on the Brother MFC-240c print head clogs, how do you access the print head to soak it? And how do you remove the print head to clean up the ink purge area. (This printer cleans itself on every...

The short answer to "how to remove print head" is there is no easy way. I don't have the service manual for your machine, but I own a 540CN which is similar and, because I have had similar problems to you, I have invested in the service manual for this machine. To actually remove the head requires a great deal of dismantling, including disconnecting the head position sensing belt which then has to be re-calibrated on re-fitting. The method I used to clear the clogged heads (mine refused to print anything in black) was to force a alcohol based cleaner through the ink supply tube using a small syringe and some windscreen washer plastic tubing. In order to catch the fluid (and flushed ink) I folded a paper towel until I could draw it under the print head. This had to be changed several times as I had to use a lot of cleaner until it flowed out of the head clear. Please note that even after I managed to get the black printing again, and even though for general printing the black printing is fine, if you do a print quality test the block of bars for black is nowhere near as good as it is for the colours. I personally can live with this given the cost Brother will charge you to repair a machine - normally more than a new one !. Hope this helps.

My mfc-240c won't print red, even with a new cartdrige.

Try running a few cleanings on the color.

Press the ink button and select cleaning,, do about five cleanings. Print the ink quality test page (from the ink button as well) and see the quality if it improved.

If it still doesnt print its possible the ink is clogged and may need servicing to replace the printer head

When I test print, I do not get a full pattern of black dashes. I changed ink cartridges and have the same result. The color test prints are fine

Hello,

If you are missing dots it is due to the print head not the cartridge.
Try doing a self cleaning a few times (max of 5) by pressing "ink" and select "cleaning"

If after 5 cleanings there's still a problem, you may need to have the printer serviced or replaced.
Since you're still getting most of your dots though, I think the cleanings should clear it out.

Thanks,

Pat

Printer prints blank pages

The print head is a part of the printer itself and unlike other printers, you cannot remove it or soak it without ruining your printer. So just try the print head cleaning option and perhaps replace cartridges, especially if you are using a third party or refilled cartridge which can clog even if it is full.

I have a Brother mfc-240c - will not print yellow

The print head is clogged. If not unclogging with cleaning process may you try to clean manualy. You need to dissasembly the hole printer to remove the print head.Put it in hot water. If you don't have a technical skills, don't try anything.
If not help just buy new printer, because the new print head will cost you as much more.
