How do I do a full system recovery on my acer 4520? I want to set it back to when I first bought it.

It can only be done when you have created a Restore point when you first bought it.If that is the case,Under accessories, you will find system tools and then System restore.Select the restore point you have created ealier and finish the wizard. That's it.

If your COmputer is not able to boot due to some error then Download "Hren's Boot CD",you will be able to restore your system with that CD by booting your system with that CD in CD-ROM.

Here is the download link for "Hren's Boot CD".

http://d2.hirensbootcd.net/Hirens.BootCD.10.1.zip

Download the files and burn the ISO image in a CD and boot using that CD.Hiren's Boot CD contains many tools to recover data, repair a system, driver backup and what's not.

If you are not satisfy with the restore then you can even backup and important data and go for a new installed.

This time don't forget to create a Restore Point after finishing your installed.

Describe your How to solve my Hard disk bad sector Problem

Easy solution would be to format and reinstall your operating system this will mark bad sectors and prevent your system from using those sectors... or follow the sets below if you really want to attempt to fix them
If you are familiar with burning images you can download the Hiren Boot CD image, burn it to a CD and then boot from it.
How to Burn image files http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/ht/burnisofile.htm
Hiren Boot CD download http://www.hirensbootcd.net/
Once you have your Hiren CD Insert into your computer and boot from it If the CD did not boot make sure your Boot order in BIOS is set to CD/DVD as the first boot device Generally you press Del F1 F2 or F10 to enter BIOS when the comes first starts to boot Look for Boot Priority or something similar to that and set CD/DVD as 1st device
Ok once in the Hiren CD menu (text menu) goto Hard Drive Tools followed by HDD regenerator This process can takes days and may or may not work
Please comment if you need further clarification or assistance

I want to change the HD from 40Gb to one with more capacity but I tried to make a ghost image in a 120GB and 160GB HD but the bios don't recognize it and only can see in the screen a simbol _ flashing.

Not sure which software you are using for making the ghost image. Lets say its "Acronis".
First, you will need an USB hard disk drive to store the image on.
Next, run the boot cd and choose backup.
Send it to the hdd.
If it was successful, remove / replace your hdd.
Run the boot cd again but now choose "Restore". Locate your image and then wait.

Hope this helps you. Norton Ghost is a bit different.

No WindowsXP, corrupt file windows\system32\config\system

Sad to say but alot of the computer manufacturers send Windows install/restore disks that are basically hardwired to the original hardware setup. The only real solution if you cannot install over your old setup would be to purchase the full version of the Windows o/s you want to install. Hope this helps & please remember to rate my answer. Thanks.

Ibm thinkpad T40 Hard Drive change out

After fdisk and format you need to ensure that operative system is installed into yor hard drive. Using ghost you restore the image disk by booting from ghost image CD if you made a bootable image disk. Ensure Bios is set up to boot from CD.
If you used Norton Ghost ensure you captured the image of full bootable original hard disk drive for same computer. If it does not boot after restoring ghosted image, than the image it is probably not complete. If hard disk image is not good, easiest thing to do is using Windows install CD to installl again operative system, then you eventually restore ghost image.

Ghost array0 over to newly setup array1 problems

I should assume the CD drive is SCSI? What sequence is it set to come up in? Set it at 2 if possible. Have you checked, or better yet replaced the CD drive? Will it boot with ANYTHING else?
That Hiren's CD is not uuummm, kosher? People having problems booting with it and all, plus the utilities may not have full function anyway. No matter what, you will need to f/disk the destination drive. You will still need the CD drive to install the program too.
Backup software will still make an exact copy of your drive also. You might want to consider a little better product, especially concerning disaster recovery. not to get off topic but, a quote from J. Bolton on backup & recovery
"What will you do if a user overwrites a 1000page doc with a blank file with the same name? What will you do if one of multiple server apps goes bonkers? If the mainboard dies how will imaging get your system back? Do you stock a spare board so the image restore will work on the exact same hardware? After a system crash, Acronis True Image Enterprise Server allows you to perform a full system restore, a bare-metal restore or just a restore of individual files and folders.
Complete system restoration can be performed to an existing system, to a new system with different hardware or to a virtual machine. You could setup a whole new system and dump the image on that.
