I bought my son a 19" philips tv model # 19pfl340d/27.in order to turn tv on it must be unplugged for 10-15 minutes.The first one I bought did the same thing and I returned it.this one is exactly the same.other than that it works perfectly

Call the Philips tv corp. for ur tv warrenty repair.The tv have power supply board,problems.

OK, I had the same problem and I fix it 100%.
The power board is ok, the lamps are ok, don't waste time there.
Just open the TV, remove the shield of the mainboard, and in the side where are the wires from the power board, there are many capacitors, check them, in my case 4 were "fat", exploded.
I had to change 9 to make shure, and that's all !!!

Probably you're using your tv as a computer monitor via vga input. just click on start,control panel, power option and select NEVER

From the menu you should see set up the cannel scan should be there.. If all else fails unplug the TV for a few minutes then plug it back in. It should ask if you want to set up the tv, Say yes and follow the steps.

We're still hanging on by our toenails waiting for a helpful response from FixYa. We did contact Philips tech support and they basically said that we need a new TV...so they're sending one to replace this one, and we are sending back the "old" one (that we just bought in December '08).

just call philips and they will send you a new t.v.! it isn't a recall, that would be bad publicity!! i spoke with a philips representative yesterday concerning my 'possessed' television. a gentlemen informed me that philips has a 'rapid replacement program' for the described 'possessed' t.v. set. simply provide model and serial numbers, time and place of purchase, then provide street address for fed-ex delivery. approximate time of arrival is 10-15 days. you are directed to package and return the old set to nearest fed-ex pick up site. i am super excited that i took the time to call philips support. i think that i spent a total of 10 minutes on the telephone; it was time well spent. oh yea, here's the number!

The issue is 4 1000uF X 10V on the main board under the shield close to the connector that from the power board. you will see them because they will be FAT( exploded)

The answer to this depends on the model. My service literature does not reveal the answer, so you will have to call Philips. Try unplugging the TV for a few minutes first. Even if the remote is programmed properly, the lock will still keep it from turning on.
