Acer Aspire 5315 with Windows Vista Home Basic will not connect wirelessly to our router but will connect to others.

Our Acer Aspire laptop was connected wirelessly to our Belkin router but suddenly disconnected and will not reconnect. The desk top computer is windows XP and our broadband provider is Virgin broadband. It will connect to other routers but not ours. Does anyone know why?

There seems to be an internet connection issue. It drops the connection all the time and has to be restarted to reconnect and it takes an extended period of time and doesn't reconnect all the time. What can be done to fix this?

The issues might also be related to the level of encryption.

Can you connect if you setup your wireless AP as Open with no encryption? Apparently Viasta has issues with WEP 64bit keys.

Configure your AP with WPA-PSK authentication and then chose between TKIP or AES, which ever works for you. Seems TKIP works for some while AES works for others.

There are two things you can do to attempt clearing this issue up.

1) go into the wireless networks tab in the properties of your wireless card. this section stores information on all of your preferred networks and the encryption keys. Remove all the networks from this list, reboot, then try connecting, it should ask you for your password then connect fine. This happens occasionally when windows takes too much control over the Zero Config service.

2) Reset your router with the pin on back after removing any mac filtering, changing your wep key (try using WPA for more security) and making sure all your stuff is set to auto. after resetting try step 1 and retry.

If this does not work, there may be an association issue between the hardware, try using a LiveCD linux that can use your wireless card to see if it can connect. If it can, it is simply just windows.

I have the acer5715/5315 series abd it crashed. I had it fixed and the guy put windows 7 so now none of my acer programs work. How can I get these to work with windows 7

Operating System Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2
Windows XP Home with Service Pack 2
Windows Vista Home Premium
Windows Vista Home Basic
Windows Vista Starter

1. Before upgrading to windows 7, you must check the specification of your acer aspire 5315.

2. Windows 7 is better than windows vista but if you are really wanted those acer programs to work. You have to downgrade your operating system from your previous operating system.

Compatibility printer/laptop

If both are fairly new then yes they should be.
That laptop comes with vista home basic and the printers website has drivers for xp and Vista, even 64 bit vista. So you should be good to go.

Reinstalled vista home basic on acer aspire 5520 wireless

Do you have a disk or the wireless router? If this hasn't been re-installed then the notebook will have no way of connecting to the net.

New acer 5315

Make sure that the wireless radio/switch is enabled on your laptop if its has built in wireless and normally if your wireless router has security enabled you need to create a profile or initiate the connection. For Windows Vista go to Control Panel and Look for Network and Internet then go to Network and Sharing Center, on the upper left hand side of the window look for a task that says Manage Wireless Connection then click Add then choose "Add a network that is in range of this computer" and check if it will display na name(SSID) of your wireless router, if it does just highlight the name and click connect(if the router has encryption you may need to verify or get hold of the wireless security(WEP or WPA) key that is configured on your router. It will be most helpful if you could provide some imformation about you laptop like the windows version(XP or Vista) and the brand name of your wieless router.
