Charlie,

Please consider this:

Are you using a factory new ink cartridge?
If you are using a refilled or third party cartridge that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead.

My Brother HL 4040cn is telling me I need a new drum??

Many of the current production printers limit the number of copies they will allow to print before changing the cartridge. The cost of printers of all kinds has dropped nicely over time but they will get back their profits by forcing you to replace cartridges, drums, etc. earlier than it is necessary. On some machines, removal and reinstallation of the cartridge may reset the counter but the majority of the machines have a simple device that self-destructs with the first use to limit recycling of the device after rebuild or recharge. There are ways to defeat this trick and many recharging shops know how to replace or bypass this kind of profit booster.

Rechargeable cartridge problem

marmotzelu_f,

The cartridges used in these products have unique hardware identification numbers assigned to them. The printer records the ID of the print cartridge when it is installed. When the number changes, the unit knows that a new cartridge has been installed and resets the ink counters. Because of this, a low-ink message should not appear with a new cartridge. When you refill the same cartridge, the printer still only recognizes the old ID number on the cartridge, so it 'thinks' the cartridge is still low. There's really no way to reset the ID number, so you're kind of stuck watching to see when the ink starts to run out. I use remaufactured cartridges in my HP 2210 and they work fine (except for the 'low' reading). Just watch for your ink to start running out. I know this is inconvient sometimes, especially when printing pictures. Hope this helps.

Error message: unable to clean 46

This can be resolved by a special form of reset in the engineers functions of the machine, however, it also requires the ink absorber box to be replaced. This part catches the waste ink. If this it not done you run the risk of waste ink leaking out of the machine. For that reason I cannot just post the reset information.
It is really a job for an engineer, I'm afraid.

On startup printer growls

Hi Charlie, These machines have a history of growling, however usually they growl before changing the fuser. The fuser is most likely the problem maybe you got a bad one. If you still have the old one and it was quiet you could pop it back in to confirm. Ther is also a gear kit available to replace the fuser drive gears but usually the noise is in the fuser.
Another growling noise can come from optional tray3 if installed. Easy to diagnose just lift machine off the assm. and print.

Hope this helps

Reset my camera vivicam 3710

The reset is not the camera, its the batteries. If you are using regular batteries its time for new ones. IF you are using rechargeable, then they either need to recharge, or have used their life expectance. Try putting in regular batteries and see if they work. If they do, you need a new rechargeable cell. Please let me know if this works for you! Thanks //D

Head Replacement LED still flashing

this is the solution I recieved from tech support from norelco. Here is the conversation: I do not know if that makes any sense or not but will wait and see how it goes.

andy soni: the 3 blades icon keep coming on
Charlie : Sorry for the delay in my response, as I was facing some technical difficulty.
andy soni: I replaced the blades
Charlie : I would like to inform you that though even you have replaced the new heads the indicator stay remain till 2 weeks.
Charlie : The replacement head indicator will remain visible for 2 weeks to remind you that with new shaving heads you will guarantee yourself optimal shaving performance.
Charlie : After 1 week the beeps are audible for 5 seconds. After 2 weeks the beeps are audible for 10 seconds. After 2 weeks it automatically disappears.
andy soni: the head does not flash or anything is that normal it just stays lit
Charlie : Yes, Andy. And it will disappear after 2 to 3 recharge cycles.

Black Cartridge needs replacement but new cartridge.

Just reset the toner cartridge and the machine will se it a new one. Remeber though it may now actually run out of blsack when the machine thinks it is part full. This will give quality issues when it runs low. If you are not sure on resetting the cart, let me know.
