Shark Euro-Pro G1490

The iron was working then shut off like it sat idle for a while but I was still using it. The button to increase temp back to "max" won't move past the On light now so I'm not sure what's wrong with it.

Does the same thing. I pulled out the plug and then pushed it back in and it started again. Then unexpectedly shut off. Who repairs these????

I have the same problem, it shuts off like it's sitting idle, and I have to unplug it and start over. I hate this iron, it's a lemon, would never buy another one !!!!!!!!!!

WHile ironing on high heat, the iron turns itself off for no reason.
I have to unplug it and then replug after 30 seconds to get it to high
heat again. Then it will AGAIN turn itself off in the midst of ironing.
    Most annoying.

Our G1490 quit after one year. Just won't come on. Period. I can't get it to open after removing the back screws either.

I took my euro steam iron model 4488 apart as it doesn't stay on. I have to mess with the revolving button on the back for it to get a connection with the little contacts that this switch seems to control. I took the one center screw off and at both ends at the bottom of the plastic backing I had to pry it gently away from where it clips in. I used a slender flat screwdriver or you can use a butter knife. Hope yours opens the same way.

I have the same iron. When my iron shuts off automatically,I have to unplug it for about one minute, plug it back in and then I can change the heat settings to get it going again.

Was using my Shark x-tended steamburst Euro-pro iron G1490 and it turned off and won't turn on

I had the same problem. The repair took less than 15 min. I opened the bottom of the iron and discovered what appears to be a design flaw on the cord holder/fastener. The holder is wedged so tight that it pinched the cord wire almost in half. I removed the cord, cut it off at the pinched spot and reinstalled. I also put a small piece of rubber onto the part of the holder that is made onto the body of the iron. In addition, I rotated the fastener cap so that the smooth side of it is against the cord.
