Macerator assembly goes clunk when I hit the switch and at the same time the pump flushes the toilet contents. What is making the lound clunk sound, would it be a macerator assembly part?

Probably something solid stuck in the blades. If you have children then it is possible that something that is not cuttable has been flushed and is between the blades.

Frigidaire dishwasher motor sqeels when it comes on, lower blade wont spin. nothing clogged, took apart everything down to the impellar. impellar doesnt spin to send water to blade but the back fly wheel...

Sounds like an impeller and seal kit you will need I think you impeller jammed up and the shaft stripped out the impeller or your motor shaft snapped

MY MACERATOR IS MAKING A LOUD GRINDING NOISE IT IS 4 YEARS OLD

Could be something stuck on the blade or impeller. You will have to open the unit and inspect the blade, impeller and drain pipe for any obstructions.

Sanigrind pump don"t always start on all fushes

certainly indicates that the unit is not holding water (hence not starting on every flush). as you are seeing water in the shower - this is obviously where it is going. It may be that the internal flap (non return valve) is stuck open or damaged. If damaged you can put a new non return valve in your 40mm pipe run where the shower pipe enters the saniflo - about a tenner from most suppliers.

Hi. I have a saniflow macerator,it's servicing just the toilet. I installed it about 9 months ago. I have had no problems untill this morning. It is making a clunking noise, the pump is working as normal,...

Hi Neil,
The pump is activated by a pressure switch inside the unit and would not normally make any noise, so probably can rule that one out!

From the manual on the saniflo it would suggest either a foreign object in the unit, a defective motor or control unit. It may be that you are unlucky and have a loose macerator blade that needs to be tightened (and loctite applied).

I would double check that the clunking is definitely coming from inside the unit and not a pipe or something else moving (the water pushing the 90 degree rubber discharge tends to move and can create movement around it). When you are sure, it will be the not so nice job of opening up the unit:

FIRST .. RUN THROUGH CLEAN WATER (will make sense later!)

- *** DISCONNECT FROM THE MAINS SUPPLY ***
- Empty the Cistern, bowl and disconnect the inlet pipes to the WC
- remove the WC and cistern
- being very careful, disconnect the outlet (some have non return valves, some don't, so you may get some sludge coming back down the pipe). Hopefully none if you pushed enough clean water through initially

get unit out and wear rubber gloves to protect your hands from getting germs in cuts etc. Normally need a star driver and flat blade screwdriver

If it is the macerator blade it should be clear that it is loose and could be tightened up. It could be play in the motor which unfortunately would mean a new unit - to test, gently pull up on macerator blade and feel for movement vertically.

also check for any foreign objects etc.

While it is out you may as well clean it out - I normally do this outside by putting warm bleached water into the unit for around 30mins, swishing it about and then emptying down a drain (cover up the mains cables in a plastic food bag first!). I also sometimes use a hose pipe to really get into all of the nooks.

Good luck with the fix, if this helps pls leave feedback, if not let me know and I'll try and help some more

Cheers

MOTOR IS WORKING AS IT STILL HAS A HUMMING NOISE BUT THE BLADES ARE NOT CHURNING, PLEASE CAN ANYONE GIVE ME SOME ADVICE? THANKS

If the motor is growling or humming loudly and the blades are not turning the motor IS the issue. For some reason, either electrical or mechanical, it won't turn. You will probably need to take it to an electric motor repair shop in your area for inspection and a quote on repairs vs. replacement.

Hi i have a saniplus macerator unit hums but

sounds like an obstructed unit - you would need to remove the impeller cover at the base to check the pump - i'm assuming youve already checked the blade unit at the top (be careful here - i use a screwdriver - not my finger) could be that a simple cleanup and acid descale would be all thats needed. try this first then start looking deeper.Humming indicates motor is ok - but dont let it run continuosly - you dont want to burn out a good motor.
