40 col printer parallel port LPT3 will only print 1 of anything ; then you have to cycle the printer power before printing the next and so on. Have the latest drivers from Star...Operating on a HP Pavilion s7500e desktop with a Siig version 5 (1S1P) card driving the printer...prints fine otherwise; just have to cycle the power each time...Any suggestions???
Is this the auto-cut version of this printer?
Could it be that it's waiting for another action to occur in between prints?
Just an idea to throw out there..
Hmm... back in the day when I serviced cash registers, I remember that the kitchen printers relied heavily on big timing discs with photosensors to tell the brain where the paper was, etc. Is it in a dirty / dusty environment?
As I said, I'm just throwing ideas out there, I don't expect to hit the nail on the head on this one :)
Weird... although it does sound like it's waiting for something... maybe the home position of the print head or something. Are you in front of the unit with the covers off? Try nudging the print head to home position right as its about to print the second page.
I know with most copiers / printers, they all have some sort of timing chart in the service manuals to show what occurs when. and what thing waits for another thing to happen.
I'm wondering if it thinks that it's printing to some other size paper?
Can you even change the paper size in the printer properties?
Just seems like a timing issue.. This one is racking my brain now..
I'm reading some forums about the printer buffer being full.
You didn't mention if this printer ever worked before, or if the problem just started.
I finally found the manual online for it!
I'm looking at the manual, starting at page 9/35. This thing has WAY too many options for a printer!
If you look on page 17/35, what I am reading.. I wonder if you manually tell it where the "page bottom" is, if it will make any difference?
I wont stop until I solve this one lol

Try reinstalling the printer in the printer and faxes window under the controll panel by clicking on it and hitting the delete key, now select add a printer from the sidebar, and follow the instructions in the Wizard. Also check the printer settings and see if they are set to the defaults
check and see if you have the latest drivers for the card.
are you running the latest version of your Windows OS
Well, I'm all out of Ideas

Usually answered in minutes!
I did this just now and have the same issue...
already done this and yes I do...
xp sp2 and yes
likewise...that was the reason I posted...I too was out of answers...I had already done the things you suggested BUT did them again...Thanks for the thoughts though...
Solution #1 was unproductive...
no autocut and no as to waiting on another command so far as I can tell
no dirt; min dust and it has a status light to show ready...I actually tries to print the second document...you hear the printer advance the paper aprox 2 lines but no actual print...the status lights look normal like it should work...
already tried to be sure print head was "home" each time and it is...
I have the tech guide of printer and it does not have the flow chart...I do know what you are talking about though...
shows it on 40 col paper and will let me preview in "print preview" and appears fine on the WYSIWIG...when you see preview...Will not alow me to change paper size though; knows it is a 40 col. paper printer
Yes it has worked before...
I have left for the day and do not have my manual w/ me but will check it in the morning...
