To 'Reflash' a mobile device, you will need to do the following:
1. Go to the symbol website ( www.symbol.com )
2. Go to 'Support and Resources' and select 'Software Downloads'
3. Select 'Mobile Computers' as the 'Product Line'
4. Select 'PPT8800CE' or 'PPT8800WM' (dependent on your OS)
5. Try to locate a 'Device Configuration Package' which is used to 'Reflash'
the mobile device and bring the 'OS', 'Applications' etc.. bang upto date (In
other words a total reload of the unit just like 'format c:')
I have spent the last 3 days working on a simple solution I'm sure you will be happy with, as the one above was vague and complex.
I was having issues with the DCP and TCM in IPL Mode, so I worked on this method.
If you have a Dock or Cable, download Microsoft ActiveSync and Install it.
Connect the Device to the Dock and your Windows XP PC via the Serial Com Port (USB Should work as well).
Launch Microsoft ActiveSync on your Windows XP PC.
Power on your Symbol PPT88xx Windows Mobile 2003 Device
(WinCE Not Tested). When the Windows Mobile 2003 Splash Screen appears DO NOT TAP the screen.
In Microsoft ActiveSync Click on File > Connection Settings
Ensure you are connecting to the correct com port and click "Connect"
Your device should now begin connecting, if not re-check your cabling and settings.
You should now be able to browse the Mobile Device's file system.
Navigate to the Application Folder and then Open the folder named StartUp.
Delete the contents of the folder (AppCenter Shortcut in my case.)
Perform a Soft Reset (Warm Boot?) by Pressing the Large Left Yellow Trigger (Button on edge of device) and the Enter and Func Buttons simultaneously and then the Left Trigger again. (Play around with it if it fails for you, I'm not sure of the exact method, but it works 99% of the time for me.) I learned allot about this device just by mashing away at the keys ;)
Now the Splash Screen should appear and Windows Mobile 2003 Should load without launching any company software. It might produce an error message, you can just ignore it, it should go away, if not just close it.
Now if you like you can setup your WiFi Connection and run the AirBEAM client and reflash the device using an AirBEAM Package from Symbols Support Pages.
If anyone is having issues or doesn't understand this guide feel free to reply or contact me.

Thanks for your instruction, it worked on one of mine. But the other one will not start Sync with the PC, and the PC could not see the unit either. I am sure the connectivity is good? How would you fix this?
