We were watching TV one evening and all of a sudden the sound cut-off! Picture is perfect, mute in not on. Tried connecting external speakers but no luck. I am assuming a chip or circuit need to be replaced but wondering also if connecting a stereo receiver and surround sound would work instead? Thanks.

I am currently trying different things with the audio options. When the amplifier option is on 'internal' there is a high static sound coming from the TV. Then I connected my computer speakers into the headphones jack in the front of the TV, switched the amplifier to 'external' and now I do get the sound but also with the static sound. I do not have a stereo receiver/surround sound system to use on the TV, but will try to borrow one to see it that will work.
Does the fact that I did get sound from plugging my computer speakers into the headphone jack give me any hope that this can be resolved without having to repair the internal speakers or chip??
I have exactly the same issue. When the setting is on internal speakers there is a high static sound coming out of the speakers. When I put the setting on external, I still have a high static coming out the audio output that goes to my external amplifier.
How do I fix that? Can I fix it myself? Thanks!
