Is there any way to change my user name on a fixya account. I have another name i would prefer to use. Thanks for the help

It is not clear whether you are talking about the Account Name or not.

If you are concerned about how to change the account name, then click on Start Button, then go to Control Panel. Change the View by option to Category (if it is already there, leave it) and click over Add or Remove User Account under User Accounts and Family Safety (if you are not an administrator, you have to enter the administrator password).

Now Click over the Account of which you wish to change the name and select Change the Account Name. Enter the new account name and press change name.

In windows XP open contol panel, then open User Accounts and click on the name of the user you want to change the name of. Then select change name and follow the on-screen instructions. Once the name is changed, you can click on "create password" and add a password for that user.

Send an email to [email protected] in the subject line type account removal then in the body type your user name (WITHOUT THE PASSWORD)

a) If your Operating System is Windows XP follow the step:
Open Control Panel from Start menu (or open RUN and type CONTROL and enter). There you can able to find out User Accounts. Double Click on that and you can able to find out the available users on that PC. Click on the User that you need to change the name. You can able to view the option Change my name. Click on that and change the name and give OK.

b) If your Operating System is Windows 7 follow the step:
Open Control Panel from Start menu (or open RUN and type CONTROL and enter). Here you can find out the User Accounts. Open the User Accounts and you can able to view the users. Open the account that you need to change the name. Once you open the particular user, you can able to view the option Change your account name. Click on that and enter the new name and click on Change Name button. Now you can able to view the new name.

In the next window, select in the "User Accounts and Family Safety" category, the {Add or remove user accounts} applet. Now you want to choose which or what type of 'account' to be changed. Make all the changes necessary, confirm the changes by clicking on the "Apply, and OK buttons when finished. You can change the Full Name of a user account by going into System Preferences -> Accounts, and then selecting the account, and changing the text in the Full Name text box. It is not advisable to change the name of your home folder/account name however. This is because a lot of files and folders are linked to this name, and changing it will mess with the file associations. If you want to change the name of the account/home folder, I would suggest creating a new account with the name you want, transfer any files, folders and settings, and then delete the old account.

I asked the same question to Customer Support and they informed me you cannot change your nickname once you open your account. I was informed to create another account with the nickname of choice. Good Luck...

Go to CONTROL PANEL then click USER ACCOUNT then in the user account windows look for the user account that you want to change as you name then click CHANGE AN ACCOUNT . After you change Log out the computer and login your new user name
