Hmm... This sounds like it is a toner problem. If your roller is getting too much toner then it just globs it onto the paper even though the drum is not asking for it. Are you using a new toner cartridge or a re-filled one? Is it from Brother or a 3rd party? I suggest you remove the toner cartridge and check inside the printer. Clean any spilled toner. Check the toner cartridge for leaks .. give it a good shake and see if it is leaking. If you have another toner cartridge, you can replace it to test. You may need to pint a few pages to see a change. Another test could be to print a few (2-5) "BLANK" pages. The printer should not be depositing any toner. If no smudge or the smudge stays the same, then the toner cartridge is the likely problem. If the smudge is there, but gets smaller, then clean your printer.

Good luck!

The printer is printing out pages with black plot of ink running down the left hand side. We have shaked the ink and replaced it with a new one and the problem is still here. Please help!

If you are getting a smear down one side, chances are that your fuser film is damaged. This is the teflon coating on the heater element that keeps the toner from sticking to the heating element. Depending on the page count of the printer, if you are anywhere close to 150,000-200,000 I would just buy a maintenance kit for the printer which will give you a new fuser, transfer roller and feed rollers. If page count is less than 150,000 you could look at just buying the film off Ebay and replacing it yourself. Just make sure that the lower pressure roller is not damaged as well. If you look at the lower roller, it should be smooth with no visible lines, cuts or deformation.

It prints only half a page.... how can i fix that???

Does the print fade out or is the printed page complete, just cropped down? If it is fading out then it is the cartridges running dry, or refilled using the incorrect ink. If it is printing the entire document, just smaller, then under printer properties you can set the page size. (control panel - printers and faxes - right click your printer and select printing preferences) I hope this helps Regards GM

HP 5610 - printing fades down the page

the printer carriage might be wearing out, it happens on the 5610's, may be time for a new printer. The fading issue sounds like a cartridge issue. Try a oem?

Color lines/dashes at top and middle of page when printing.

Amand321,

Your problem lies with the fact that you manually refilled your cartridges. This is not recommended by any technician I know and your solution is in the replacement of all your cartridges with genuine brother consumables. It is going to be expencive, but it is the only real solution.

Black toner

I had the problems with white smear type fading on one side of the page , when pritning black, but colour printing seems OK. Did everything suggested in the manual and more. Changed toner. Been working on it a week.  (I got 2000 pages out of that thing).
Now I have the solution. Bin the Samsung and buy a Canon.

Black smear of ink at end of lines

Please load the printer with at least 10 sheets of plain paper then press the start button. This will dry or clean any ink found on the rollers.
Continue to run blank pages through the printer until no more ink is found on the paper, then attempt printing. If ink stains, streaks or smudges are still present, the printer may need service.
