Fuji FinePix F30 shutter problem: won't take pictures

I've enjoyed several years using this great Fuji FinePix F30 digital camera. However, within the last month, the camera won't take pictures. The shutter button doesn't seem to work...I've noticed others have had this problem...is there a fix?

Its fairly easily fixed and its a common problem with the F30. The shutter button contact slides off upon impact when dropped, it must be re-aligned so that it makes proper contact and performs normally. All that is needed is the special screw driver for the F30 (easily purchased online, just google it: "screw driver for fuji f30" ) or bring it to your local watch/jewelry repair store and tell them to open it up for you.

We have two F30's and they both have been dropped, both did the same thing with the shutter button. But both were easily fixed. Always keep the camera in a safe place and away from kids, they are very sensitive devices. Use the wrist cord when taking photos.

WOW! How awesome to think my camera was toast and then to find this site. Thank you very much, 4 year-old dropped the camera at the Kennedy Center in DC over the weekend. Now there is hope for this otherwise awesome point and shoot.

Fuji Finepix F30 Suddenly takes only all pink screens (no image)

This sounds like one of two problems -
Either an LCD screen problem or a bad CCD sensor.
A LCD screen problem would indicate one of two of the following - it was cracked, or the cable inside is either damaged or moved out of the plug and need to be reseated.

A bad CCD sensor would show a pink screen on cameras, but would also show menus on the screen as well, do you see those? The CCD basically captures the image the lens is seeing and translates it to an image the camera can save. Generally the CCD can not be replaced separately from the lens and will require an entire lens assembly for repair.

My Fuji Finepix F30 has a broken shutter button. The problem seems mechanical, because it won't work in any mode. Can it be repaired?

Fuji Finepix E900 freezes after 2pics, must remove batteries

I had the same problem and when I contacted Fuji they said that there was a defect in a chip that several of the name brands had used for a period of time. They had me send in mu Finepix and they repaired it for free.

Repair Fuji F30 shutter button does not work, case damaged

I also dropped my Fuji F30.
The half-press of the shutter didn't work anymore.
I bought a triwing / triblade screwdriver (about 5 euros) to open the case.
The flatcable running from the knobs on top of the F30 to the main print was a bit loose. After reconnecting it, the shutter button was fully functional again.
It seems that from the backside the most 3 three wires in the flatcable are for the shutter, so if your cable is also a bit loose, this might solve the problem.

NB Remember to only open the backside of the casing, there is no need to open the lens-side. Opening and closing the backside is really easy and could be done by anyone with the right tools. (read screwdrivers...)
