Average life on all brands and models is 3 to 5 years. Average repair on this size and type of set varies but is usually from 150 to 250 parts and labor. I see very few sets of this type (any brand) that are more than 6 years old.
The bulk of sets in our shop (over a hundred sets on average) that have failed are under 2 years of age.
When the TV is OFF, the power supply, main board are still running 24/7 since it has to be able to receive the signals from the remote or from the switches on the TV, so it is never really off at all.
You are lucky it last 2 years, some of them TV I work on are less than 2 years old.
This an be the main board or the T-CON board problem.
Check the fuses on the ysus & zsus boards. Are any fuses on boards open . Disconect power cabels to ysus board first {board on left} . put tv on . if the light is green the ysus board must be replaced.
Maybe the backlight is out, can you see a picture when shining a flashlight on the screen. if yes you have either a bad inverter power supply or bad screen (panel).
I had the same problem. It turned out that one of the cooling fans get dusty and does not work. I opened the back of the Toshiba plasma TV and cleaned the failed fan, and it worked like a champ.
