My 42PF5321D/37 will not turn on, just flashes a red standby light. I have a Philips Plasma model number 42PF5321D/37.

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. One of the PCB's inside has an incorrect voltage/short or dry joint, all TV now days have a diagnostic startup mode which checks all the boards, one of yours threw up a problem so the TV put itself into Protect Mode so that it doesn't do anymore damage.

Get it checked out by an engineer.

Purchased new Pansonic TV,, old one [2 years] was not projection tv. In for repair for kids.

replacing ssb for 4 blink error was correct as error is communication failure specific to micro processor on ssb. getting an alternate error after replacing ssb would suggest either wrong ssb or defective ssb. verify vendor number on ssb tuner on original and new ssb and if same reorder that board and if not order per original board

From what I am able to find out there is a problem with the main power supply or thermal shutdown when the lights are red flashing. have you tried to reset it?
