My ctk 2000 casio keeps shutting off

My ctk 2000 casio uses batteries. When i press the key when i first turn it on, it take a long time to hear each key you press.
Also since my ctk 2000 uses batteries which are almost dead, the keyboard keeps shutting off while i'm in the middle of a song.

is it because my batteries are low or because there is something wrong with it.

Replace the batteries and get an AC adapter for it! These do NOT work when voltage os too low.

Get it repaired by a professional. Casio gives long warranty (5 years in Australia). Mine took weeks for Casio Service to repair. Many boards had to be changed.

The jack for the power supply is soldered to the circuit board. It is likely you have bad solder joints. Keep careful track of which screws go where and you should be able to take it apart enough to get to the solder joints. The screw holes are on the bottom.

ASSUMING you have a MIDI interface connection, (not audio) then you need to set the PC to use a general MIDI sound and turn on the synth in the PC.

Go to control panel and open the sound icon. Select the device to use for MIDI playback in the appropriate section.

Sorry, but many of the low end keyboards do NOT have backlights. This is especially true of those that have the capability of running off batteries like the CTK-496.

The display in this is a reflectance type that needs ambient lighting to view.

Casio ctk-496 claims to be midi keyboard controller
Try downloading MidiOx and troubleshooting with it. It will show you if you have any midi activity and which channel your Casio is transmitting on etc.
