Hi,had a thunder storm this morning and there was lightling strike nearby.The power in the house went out momentarily and came back on. Later i went to turn on my TV (Philips 42PFL5603D/10)and there was no picture.All i got was a blue screen. Iam got a SKY HD box and i connect this to the tv with a HDMI cable so instead of picture all i got was the blue screen. I unplug everything and reconnect but i still got the blue screen.Also i have a PS3 connected to the tv also with HDMI cable and all i get is "No Video Signal" Can you advice me whats the problem is? Thanks

It is not a case of reset. The power supply section of your TV is damaged in the thunder storm. It is a common thing happening to TVs. Yes, sometimes, if you are lucky you escape with small damage like fuse and a few safety components. Otherwise you may have to replace the entire power board. Please consult some local TV tech,

Look to see if the rear video/audio inputs work (DVD etc) and if they do the damage is at the tuner in the set (nearby lightening can discharge into the cable or wires for signal.)
If using a box (cable or satellite) it may have took the hit.
A good idea if lightening storm is to not only unplug set (static discharge can come in via the power cord also) but disconnect signal source from set.
I have in extreme cases seen a nearby strike get in via the power lines and destroy almost every appliance plugged in even if not on.

One of reasons your tv not working, the thunder storm /lighting possibility has burnt your Tv micro processor. get a technician to check the power supply section too because during the thunder storm your TV circuitry received excessive voltage .
If is the main processor is burnt you have to change it for the TV to work .
It maybe just coincidental that the noise appeared after the storm. However, if carbon deposits caused by an electric ark have created interference to something like the fan motor bearings. One would that any associated electronic device would not function either, if fitted.
Typical reset sequence is: unplug the set, press the power button a few times ( Yes, with the set unplugged ). Then, hold the power button down and at the same time ( maybe with your other hand ) plug the set in. If that doesn't do it, there may be a button marked reset on the back of the set. If there was a lightning strike nearby, your set is probably toast. The antenna or cable brings it into the house.
Terrible thunder storm can create electrict shock to our appliances thats why we recomended that if you donot use your tv pls unplug it, and it mostly if you use outdoor antena when the thunder hit the tv will damage.
