No. The differences between SD and SDHC goes beyond what firmware can change. It's possible to design a device to use both SD and SDHC cards, but a device that was only designed for SD cards cannot use SDHC cards without hardware changes.

SaveMyUsb.com can recover data from most flash memory devices including memory cards and usb flash drives for just £39 - give them a try it worked for me!
The DMC-LZ2 is specified to work with SD cards, not SDHC cards. While SDHC cards are physically compatible with SD cards, they will not work in SD devices. SD cards will work in SDHC devices, but that doesn't help you any here.
It's a hardware incompatibility. No firmware update can get around it.

If all other cards work fine then you may have a faulty memory card.
Your camera should theoretically be able to handle an 8GB SDHC card (but only up to 2GB xD card) as it is an SDHC compatible camera, but I've encountered more than a few cameras in the past which were SDHC compliant but could only handle up to 4GB.
Most of these had firmware updates to enable up to 16GB SDHC but the Fuji S1000fd has no firmware update.
If you find that the SDHC card is fine after all then I'd suggest contacting Fuji for a definite say so as to whether they know of any issues with 8GB SDHC compatibility.
You need to go to Panasonic dot com search for TC-32LX70, go to software updates. Use a blank SD card and format it save the firmware file SDDL.SEC to it. Carefully open the "service panel" you may need to remove the entire back case? since it seems the frame is holding the service panel down. 1)power on the TV 2)insert the SDcard with firmware update into the rear(lx70) or the sdcard slot on the side(lx700) 3)follow the on-screen instructions. 4)when it's finished, remove the SD card. turn off or unplug for 30+ seconds then plug it back in. 5)power on. 6) perform the first time setup.
The L1 is an old camera, before the SDHC standard. There is no forward compatibility (SD devices can't use SDHC cards), only backward (SDHC devices can use SD cards).
The latest version of the firmware is available at http://support.nikontech.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/13783
Sorry, no. SDHC cards are electronically different than SD cards and will not work in devices not originally designed to accept them. This is a hardware difference and cannot be changed by firmware.
