sound like the motor are operating properly, I more likely will be the timer which allow the machine to run through its cycle which run about 124-150 bucks. It common for it to fail over time period of usage, some last longer than others. the parts is fairly cheap to replace and do it your self as everything is all plug in and the last if that timer does not rectified the issue than it will be microcomputer machine control which will run 200-280 bucks. I don't know how old is your machine, depend on the age and condition of the machine is it worth to fixing or buying the new unit by the time you buy new parts however the new 300-800 bucks depending on the brand and model. sound like the motor are operating properly, I more likely will be the timer which allow the machine to run through its cycle which run about 124-150 bucks. Repair your Kenmore Top Load Washer suffering from these following issues: Will Not Advance Past Rinse ...
The washer drain the water if you put on spin. all electronically controlled washer won't unlock the door and or spin if there's water inside the water has to be drained out first. If the basket didn't move(no motor movement) and it finished the cycle, POSSIBLE problem is the motor control board.
Motor Control Board 00436461
Check door switch: If the lid switch is bad it will not drain or spin. Try this test: With lid open let it finish wash cycle. Press lid switch down with screwdriver. Washer should begin draining. Release switch. Motor should stop. Press switch a second time. Washer should start spinning as it continues to drain. If motor doesn't come on while lid switch is pressed, replace the switch. sounds as if perhaps the hummm is coming form the drain pump not the motor, remove the front cover and you ll be able to acess the drain pump resivior, unscrew it and you find all sorts if things jammed into the pump preventing free spinning, 7 years servicing this unt never saw a bad motor, 1000's of pumps
It seems as an overload issue. The machine has an overload switch to protect the motor.
Take the comforter out and operate the machine,it should work fine.
Good luck!
Jayron, is the motor jogging? start to spin, stop, start to spin stop. If so, your motor is jogging between the high and low start windings. The motor during spin should start on the high speed windings and stay there until most of the water is drained. GE came out with a new motor, harness and run cap because of this. If you have a meter, there should be a white and white/red wire going to the motor. If you have a steady 120V and it's doing this jogging, replace the motor with the kit...Let me know if this the issue, Catriver..post back.
