I got this model for Xmas & spent over 2 hours with the same problem. How can you close inner tray when you're only supposed to push the tray half way in for printing onto disc? It doesn't make sense, it's a contradiction and the manual doesn't give any explanation, An absolute piece of Junk! It's going to be 'dumped' back to the retailer tomorrow! I've never had such crap!

How do I print onto cd?

Please follow these steps:
1.
Turn your printer on. Most power buttons are located on the top of the printer. Press and hold down the button until its LED light turns green.
2.
Choose the image or text you desire to print onto the CD. Try to print directly to DVD with a canon pixma

>> It tells me to close the door so it can resume printing on paper normally A4.

It is trying to "ignore" the "bypass" try.

Tell the printer to *ACCEPT* the disk from the "bypass" tray,
rather than from the stack of paper in the A4 tray.

To tell the printer, click the OK button on the printer.
