Sony 52" rear projection tc

Having problems with my 7 year old, just the last week, will lose picture and sound, standby blinks 5 times then stops and then blinks four times over and over. Picture will usually come back after shut off, then repeat the black screen again until turned off (and so on, you get the idea). Funny enough friend bought the exact same sony 52" tv 3 months after myself and is experiencing same problems. Any help appreciated.....Thanxs

Thanks for the help, I have tried to bring up the recent faults screen and cannot. I have tried with pressing "5" for channel 5, also tried the channel + and then 5, as well as channel- and then 5 no luck......the standby is blinking 5 times (not the 4 times) as previously indicated. Any Help....Thanxs

5 blinks means problem in the AKB (video) and 4 blinks means problem with the verticle deflection. Try this to get the screen to display any recent faults then get back to me and let me know what it said. Press the following buttons on the remote.
Display, Channel, 5, Vol Minus, ( Not plus ) then Power. This brings up
a screen with a list of the problems and number of times they have occurred.
Each of the problem names is abbreviated as, "OCP", "OVP", "V STOP", ETC.
We have repeated them in parentheses in the text for the "Blinks" described
above so you can correlate between the diagnostic screen and the blink
codes.

Hi there,
5 blinks means there is a problem with the video board. It could be as simple as unplugging everything, includding power. Wait 3 minutes then plug power only back in. Or it may be a damaged component that requires replacing.
Hope this helps

Sony KP-43HT20 Projection TV

5 times blinks is error code for No Good White Balance and you said that picture is very green.
As you know TV is approx 7 years old so it needs RGB gain adjustments.
If you are TV tech person or know about TV repair, let me know to guide you further. Or contact local TV repair shop to fix it.

its not the time for new tv yet.as the problem you r facing is not a major problem.

Check for multiple poor solder connection on the sweep/power supply board.

or.
just need to balance the three colors red, green and blue that may help. remove the front covers and look for black module that have screw and focus controls just move little bit left or rightbe carefull because you can loos the picture

Sound, but no picture. Standby light blinking 5 times

A few weeks ago my set started flashing to a black screen. Now a couple of weeks later, i have no picture, but the set turns on and i have sound. The standby light is flashing. I purchased the set in 2000 so it is seven years old. This is the first problem. Could it be all three of the bulbs? Could it be all three of the bulbs? no as you say that sound is ok that means your power supply &high voltage section is ok. please check chroma ic luminance section or system control section stand by ckt ihanks
