Your other option is to buy a Universal remote that can work with your DVD recorder. The one from the Panasonic website is about $50

Try holding 1 and enter at the same time for more than 3secs

Make sure remote is set to unit code ex: press enter and 1 at same time see if this matches try enter and 2 or enter and 3 see if this matches and works

PRESS 3 AND ENTER ON YOUR REMOTE OR VICE VERSA

I unplugged the unit. Replugging it fixed the problem, And it's an e46.

THE aswer is in the manual that can be had on line. You have 3 different remote typse, 1,2,3, All you have to do is hold down the ENTER button and the number 1 or 2 or 3 for a few seconds and it will change the setting. When getting the error "3 check remote" that said you have it currently on setting 3. Try 1 or 2.

The DMR-ES15 is a later model (around 2006/07) than the DMR-E50 (2003/04), but essentially both should do the same job so technically - a good equivalent in terms of recording and same brand so yes. The connections on the rear (of the replacement recorder) should suit and work with your other devices just as the old one did.

According to some other online reviews, the DMR-E50 has had a few issues with recording, and finalizing certain discs.

I'd say go for it - accept the replacement - as long as it comes with some kind of guarantee, works fully and has all the accessories (including remote, instructions etc.) you should be good. Contact the store and seal the deal.

You can get a replacement original Panasonic DMR E-50 remote from various suppliers on the net or on eBay - part number is IRC85049. Just google 'Panasonic DMR E-50 remote'

As it's been 5 months I suspect problem's been solved - how? I have similar problem, E50 recorded DVD-r's lock up after playing about an hour. RAMs and commercial DVDs play fine.

You can only record to dvd-ram or dvd-r NOT dvd-rw!
