I'm having the exact same problem. My camera is stuck on zoom, when I try to turn it on it stays on a few seconds.. beeps 3 times and then shuts off. I have brand new rechargable batteries and one's that I bought a few days ago and used, none of them work. My camera took good pix the last 2 days but now it's acting crazy!! HELP!!!!!!!!

the camera is off with the lens out. I've changed the batteries. When I press the power button the green light momentarily comes on. The camera remains off.

it says send your camera in for service if the problem continues...where should I send it?

I recently started having the same problem. The camera emits a strange beep and will shut off. Nothing helps. Customer service wants a ton of your personal information and won't refer you to tech support unless you supply said info.
Servicing this camera will cost more than just buying a new one! I may well as well by a brand new one - just different brand.

My S730 has done all the same things to me. New batteries in, 2 minutes later the power bar indicated they are flat. Amazon were very good & sent a replacement real quick. My replacement is doing the same thing now.

Try to power reset your camera by removing the batteries for a minute and reattach them again.

Use lithium batteries.

If that doesnt work, consider sending your camera for service.

If this camera takes ordinary batteries you may have inserted them the wrong way around.
If it takes a rechargeable pack recharge it for average time recommended and try again.

Lens stuck open

hey, I had the same problem when I accidentally droped my camera, some parts in the mechanism are probably broken or jammed.

Most likely repairs required.

I have a Canon PowerShot A430 camera. When I turn it on, the lens doesn't open and it shuts off. The message on the screen says " Lens error, restart camera." Please advise. Thanks

Hi,

The Lens Error is displayed on the LCD screen when the Lens Mechanism is stuck or when affected by any malfunction. If turning the power on and off again does not resolve the error message, try doing a power reset and Initialize option.
Performing a manual power reset
Turn off the camera.
Remove the battery pack.
Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
Allow the camera to remain without power for 60 seconds.
Reinsert the battery pack.
Turn on the camera.
You can reset the Camera back to factory default by performing the following steps:
Press the power button.
Press and hold the MENU button for more than 5 seconds. Default Settings will get displayed.
Use the arrow buttons to select OK and press the FUNC./SET button. This will reset all the settings back to factory deafult.
This should resolve the issue. If the issue persists, service may be required.

My Samsung Camera won't turn on and the lens is stuck out it won't go bacck in I've tried changing to alkaline batteries and the new pix batteries but can't get any response what's going on? WHat do I do?

Due to the tight tolerances inside the lense mechanism - small bits of sand or lint may become trapped in the mechanics.

It is advised to take the camera to a camera repair shop and have it disassembled and cleaned.

There are many small parts and intricacies that will render it totally useless if not done properly.

My camera wont turn on.

If the lens is stuck inside the camera and you hear a motor noise - changing batteries will not help. This has happened because the lens barrel is jammed inside the camera. Unfortunately, you will not be able to repair that issue. If the lens is stuck outside the camera, slightly tilted, and you hear a motor noise; you might be able to save camera. First, only use good batteries (stay away from alkaline batteries - waste of money), go with Energizer Lithium or Duracell Power Pix (you will get your moneys worth and have less problems with the camera). Second, very GENTLY, pull the lens barrel up and in the opposite direction of the tilt (to make the lens barrel straight), you will hear a slight click sound - DO NOT PUSH ON THE LENS BARREL!!!. Put in the new batteries and the lens should retract.

Samsung S1065 does not turn on, beeps 3 times before powering off. Lens is extended, have checked batteries, not sure what else to do??

I had the same problem, firstly you will be able to press the button on the back to view your pictures, when you do and the camera powers up quickly press the menu button. Check that your battery settings are set to alkaline, then buy some good alkaline batteries and not cheap ones. Check that they are alkaline and not like what I did and bought panasonic zinc carbon.
This worked for me and mine would not turn on either until i changed the batteries to a good make.

Polaroid i735 Camera won't turn on. Lens stuck.

I had the same problem, and fixed it by wiggling the lens a little, when turning it on.
After a few tries, it finally wiggled free, and the lens retracted.
