Refrigerator compressor making frequent clicking sounds

We have an Admiral 21.7 cu ft ASD2120DR side by side refrigerator and smelled burning this morning after a sizzling sound. It still seems to be working but now we hear clicking coming from the compressor. I turned off the automatic ice maker thinking that was the problem but still hear the clicking sound coming from the compressor. THANKS FOR YOU HELP.

SOURCE: Admiral Refrigerator makes hollow ice

Hollow ice cubes are due to low water pressure to the fridge. Water thru the door should have good pressure behind it. This is a good indicator of water pressure. Should be able to fill a glass quickly. Causes for low pressure are self-piercing saddle valves on the water line (switch to drill type (1/4") valve) or reverse osmosis system or filtering system on water line to the fridge. R.O. systems should not be used. Increase water pressure and that will fix the hollow cubes. The loud noise may be the sound of the water valve on the fridge when it is acivated. This sound is normal and some are louder than others.

SOURCE: problem with fridge ice maker

assuming the freezer is cold enough and that you have a valid water supply hooked up, either the icemaker is bad or the water valve is bad, best idea is to replace both.

SOURCE: ice maker on Admiral HMG 62165 side by side

check the lever in the ice bin. if it is stuck in the up position it thinks the ice bin is full and will not make ice. Just wiggle it to the down position.

Making clicking noise

Can you localize the sound? Is it is the freezer section, underneath, or in the refrigerator section? If it is in the freezer section, it could be a frost buildup around the fan or the ice maker not filling up.

If it is underneath, it could be that that contactor - relay is not staying connected, but that would mean that the compressor is not engaging and the refrigerator would not be operating.

In the refrigerator section - the fan could be a suspect.

Admiral HMG61139 21.1 cu ft Side-by side refrigerator, not cooling. clicking sound every few minutes. (sounds similar to oven thermostat or relay coming on).

Hello,

Thier is one of a couple things going on with your refrig.

The start relay on the compressor is bad so what your hearing is the overload thermostat tripping on and off and keeps trying to start the compressor

The fan motor by the compressor called the condenser fan motor is not running to cool the compressor so once and what you overload keep trying to start the compressor but its too hot to start

Finally the compressor is locked up and the overload still keeps trying to start it but its totally seazed and ain't going to run

I hope this helps you to determine what is wrong with your refrigerator,

Admiral side by side fridge defrosted and no longer cooling

Replace the compressor start relay.
If this does not solve the problem you most likely have a bad compressor.
Your fridge may be under a 5 year compressor warranty.

Admiral LTF2112ARW cooling problems

First I would make sure the compressor is running.

Unplug the Ref. for about 15-20 min, plug it back in and listen for the compressor to start. You will have to be behind the Ref to tell the difference between the compressor fan and the compressor. If the compressor clicks and doesn't run then the relay on the compressor should be replaced. If it runs then it is probably low on coolant.
