I just bought a Emerson 32'' LCD TV Model # LC320EMXF and a RCA Surround System Model # RTD315W. I also purchased a HDMI cable to connect them. The TV works and the Surround System works but I cannot get the TV sound to play through the Surround System Speakers. Any advice on how to get this to work?

run yellow cable from xbox to TV vide input for picture!, now run the red/white cables to AUX ibput on the RCA and push function till you see aux and poof, you got Video on the tV and audio from the surround sound.
What cables are you using for the XBOX and the digital box? What surround sound system are you using (what receiver)? Which model of Dynex 32" TV do you have? Looking at the DX-L32-10A, I can connect both devices to the TV and then the audio out to the surround sound system.
If HDMI, then that will carry the audio to the TV and then you would need an audio cable from the audio out on the TV to the surround sound speakers. Similarly, if you use component video and the audio cable combination, there are 2 component video jacks and 3 audio-in jacks on the rear of the TV. Then connect another cable from the audio out of the TV to the surround sound system. (This TV has one audio out and a headphone jack.)
If you previously had the audio going from the Rogers digital box directly to the surround sound system, you need to reroute things unless there are two or more sets of audio in jacks on the surround sound system. Some surround sound system can take several HDMI in cables and then route it to the TV on a HDMI out port.
Without more information, I can't be sure of the best option for your cables.
I hope this gets you started and please provide more information for additional suggestions.
Your not goingto achive true dobly sound you need a HDMI solution for this and hence you dvd player is rather old since it does not use HDMI if you want true HDMI sound you need to purchase a DVD with HDMI outputs to the TV
HI,the rca system should have a sub pre out socket, plug a phono cable into this then to input on your sub and set volume to half way, also make sure the sub is set to on in the setup menu on the system.
Hope this helps.
CABLE GUY.
Do you have set-top-box or antenna-cable directly to TV? You have connected TV with received via HDMI, but that won't work in this direction - TV has HDMI INput only, not output. You can use HDMI to connect HDMI-out on DVD player for example to HDMI-in on receiver and HDMI-out of receiver to HDMI-in on TV. But to get sound from TV to the receiver, use spdif optical or coax cable if TV supports that - this way you will get surround sound. But also your connection via analog white/red RCA plugs should work, but only for stereo sound.
