PS3 wont play blue ray or PS3 game discs

There are some firmwares that support playing movies on the game, if the files are not complete, then the ps3 will not be able to play any movie, and some times it might affect game discs as well.

So when next your playstation 3 wants to system update, allow it, so it will automatically restore the files that are necessary to play a blue ray disc.

Systems update is done online, so you must have an internet connection either wireless or by connection for the playstation, and if it pops up the system update message next time, allow it. the blu ray player uses a magnified lens ( likely used in ps3 games too) which is not used when playing ps2 or regular dvds...why they work, any spec or suface wear to the lens will cause the system not to read the discs) , a cleaning disc wont work as the ps3 wont recognize what it is and not play it... only solution i found was to send in for service , which costs @ 150 bucks! Maybe the factory mixed up the disc readers, and gave yours a ps2 disc raeder

You seem to have alot of problems with your console.

sounds like the blue ray lens fried, u should be able to find one on ebay or craigs list not hard to put in

It's a new system glitch you may need to send it in or ake it back and exchange.

try sending it back to sony

if your ps3 doesnt play ANY games or dvds, that may mean that the eye on the ps3(the thing that reads the disks and dvds) is malfunctioning, not moving efficiently enough to procces the disk, not recognizing the encrypted code on the disks, or the optical eye could even be scratched. the disk feed could also not be feeding the disk in far enough for the eye to read it. i would definitly suggest calling customer service and/or bringing the ps3 to an A+ certified technition to "diagnose" your problem.
